About Time: You Went to Work ItBy Nancy Gibbs
Free outdoor yoga, health & fitness advice, food & drink and so much more; all on offer in central London this coming Saturday 7th June…
Well, summer is in the air and although the weather this week has left a lot to be desired, we here at About Time have faith that now June has arrived so will long hot summer days and cloudless skies. No longer will we need to dream of desert island destinations as the sun will be shining on our doorstep; the cinema and basement bars will be replace by open air screenings and beer gardens, and the gym will be replaced by long runs and yoga in the park.
On that note, we have a fabulous little tip off for you – this Saturday (7th June) there is a fantastic health, fitness & well-being event taking place in Covent Garden from 1-6pm. ‘Work It‘ in St Martins Court (map here) will be hosting an array of free outdoor yoga classes, as well as live music, free fruit pots and healthy drinks and in-store and outdoor activities provided by the local brands and there’s even a bike powered smoothie blender.
With London offering more yoga classes than any other European city, yoga enthusiasts can take part in classes hosted by Yotopia Yoga. Led by Marcus Veda and other yoga experts, the classes include Dynamic Yoga, a fluid and lively form of movement, Rocket Yoga, a dynamic and fast-paced flow of yoga and Voga, a cross between yoga and voguing.
Yoga matts will be provided on a first come first serve basis or participants can bring their own. The class times are as follows:
Dynamic Yoga: 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Rocket Yoga: 3.00pm – 4.15pm
Voga: 4.30pm – 5.30pm
The luxury day spa experts will be offering ‘relax and energiser’ treatments with 20% off the normal price also. Visit running specialists Runner’s Need who will be offering a physio in-store to give free injury advice and the Specialized Concept Store will provide visitors with free bike check-ups in the courtyard.
If just the thought of all the goodness spurs you into the need of a little bit of fashion TLC, head to L.K Bennett for a complimentary personal styling consultation or The White Company, which is offering £10 off with a £50 spend. Also, keep a look out for Jack Wills’ staff members who will be scooting around on branded Jack Wills’ bikes and stop at the store to receive a free pair of exclusive summer sunglasses when you spend over £50. Blow Ltd will also be on hand for first come first serve shoppers to have speedy blow dries, manicures or their make-up done. If you get thirsty refuel in healthy style at Suda Thai, offering a lemongrass & Ginger Iced tea. The East India Company is offering a variety of health teas and tea tasting with its very own Tea Master and you can also enjoy fresh fruit, mini green smoothies and elderflower cordials at Bills. It is a great way to kick start the summer in a fun and healthy style so get involved and head on over to see what ‘Work It‘ has to offer you next Saturday.
And that’s not all – Work It launches ‘Fitness Friday’s’, a series of three Friday’s in June where visitors can enjoy a free afternoon of open air yoga classes in St Martin’s Courtyard. Hosted by Yotopia Yoga, Dynamic Yoga, Rocket Yoga and Voga classes will take place on 13th, 20th and 27th June from 1.00pm until 7.00pm.
