London’s independent salon collective Blue Tit has officially gone international – and its debut foreign outpost couldn’t be more fitting. The group’s eighteenth salon, now open on Fælledvej in Copenhagen’s buzzing Nørrebro district, here’s what you need to know:

Blue Tit Salons: The Lowdown

In London, Blue Tit has built a reputation for doing things differently. Its seventeen neighbourhood salons – each one distinct yet unmistakably Blue Tit – have become hubs for bold hair design and authentic local connection. Now, the collective is taking that same ethos abroad, with Copenhagen marking its first-ever international salon and the next step in what’s been a landmark year of growth.

A London Vision Reimagined in Copenhagen

Running the Copenhagen salon is Mads Ruus, a familiar face to the Blue Tit family. Originally from Denmark, Mads spent over twelve years in London becoming one of the brand’s leading educators and creative heads. His vision for the new space? “Connection, creativity and education,” he says – a mantra that captures both Blue Tit’s energy and Copenhagen’s contemporary cool.

The salon itself is a design statement – warm, sculptural, and beautifully different. Gone is the traditional front desk; instead, clients walk straight into the flow of the space, where curved walls meet bold custom shelving and hygge-inspired hues of deep green, terracotta, and soft blue. Even the backwash pays homage to the building’s former life as a restaurant, keeping the original metal walls while layering in calm, modern warmth.

From Dalston to Denmark

For co-founders Matt Gebbie and Andi Hinteregger, this expansion feels like a full-circle moment. “When we opened our first Blue Tit salon in Dalston back in 2011, we dreamed of one day going international,” they share. “Launching our first overseas salon in Copenhagen with Mads – someone who has been part of our journey from the start — truly means the world.”

The Copenhagen opening follows a whirlwind year for Blue Tit. In 2025 alone, the group launched four new salons across London – each one maintaining its neighbourhood identity while contributing to a growing sense of collective spirit.

Beauty With a Conscience

What sets Blue Tit apart isn’t just its creative edge but its commitment to sustainability. As the UK and Europe’s first salon collective to earn BCorp certification, Blue Tit leads the charge toward a more ethical beauty industry — proving that purpose and profit don’t have to be opposing forces. From product choices to waste management, its salons are designed to do good while looking good.

Blue Tit is also the Global Creative Director for Oway, the Italian organic and biodynamic haircare brand that champions cruelty-free, toxin-free beauty. Together, they continue to push boundaries in sustainable hairdressing across Europe and now, Scandinavia.

And for Copenhagen? This opening feels less like an arrival and more like a cultural exchange — a slice of East London’s creativity finding a new rhythm in a city equally obsessed with style, design, and conscious living.
