Top 3: Italian Sandwiches to Try in London Right NowBy Claudine Levy
London’s sandwich scene is having a seriously good moment – and, thankfully, the Italians are representing. From a neighbourhood gem in Ally Pally to a seasonal lobby special in Holborn, these are the Italian sandwiches worth getting your hands on:
1. For a Neighbourhood Gem: CURED (THE TOP SPOT)
What: Nestled on a cute neighbourhood street on Priory Road, next to Ally Pally Park, CURED is a local’s paradise. Independently run by an owner with a clear passion for getting the flavour balance right in every single sandwich, there is no bad order here — and they are huge.
The schiacciata is baked in-house: perfectly crisp, salty and chewy, with fresh, bountiful fillings piled in. Our picks? The No. 2, packed with mortadella, stracciatella, truffle, pistachio, rocket, extra v and balsamic; and the Summer Special, a sweet-savoury situation of San Daniele ham, burrata, fresh peach, honey, rocket and balsamic dressing. Our favourite spot in N.London right now.

2. For a Proper Italian Lunch: Dal Fiorentino, Holborn
What: Run by husband-and-wife duo Andrei and Cristina, Dal Fiorentino brings an authentic taste of Italian schiacciata to Holborn. Every sandwich is made fresh to order and stuffed with high-quality Italian ingredients, making it an easy choice for a central London lunch that feels a cut above the usual desk-side meal deal.
Go for the DA VINCI, filled with mortadella, whole burrata, pistachio pesto and extra virgin olive oil, or the signature LA FIORENTINA: fennel salami, pecorino, truffle honey and extra virgin olive oil. Our one note? A little more seasoning would take things up another level – but as everything is prepared fresh, asking for S&P is an easy fix.
There is also a banging breakfast deal: a fresh filled croissant plus a coffee for £4.50. In central London, that is a genuine steal.

3. For a Summery Lobby Bite: The Hoxton, Holborn x CASA LAWA
What: Throughout 2026, The Hoxton is bringing a new sandwich collaboration to its lobby each month, inviting some of London’s most exciting food talents to create special one-off sarnies.
For August, CASA LAWA has taken up residency with the Mortadella Beach Sarnie, part of the ongoing Hox Sarnie Series. Served on toasted focaccia, the sandwich layers thinly sliced mortadella with creamy stracciatella and fresh peaches. The focaccia is some of the best we have had in a long time: generously seasoned, beautifully textured and absolutely delicious. We would tweak the bread-to-filling ratio slightly, but paired with the 10/10 atmosphere of The Hoxton lobby, it is a very lovely summer bite.
