Whilst travel to Mexico is sadly off the table for now, National Mezcal Day on the 21st October offers the perfect opportunity to celebrate authentic Mexico here in the UK.

For the uninitiated, mezcal is Mexico’s original agave spirit which continues to be made according to centuries-old traditional methods. For those in the know, mezcal is arguably the world’s most complex and authentic craft spirit.

The best way to celebrate National Mezcal Day is, of course, with the world’s most highly awarded mezcal brand, Corte Vetusto, a range of single-origin mezcals made in Oaxaca, according to time-honoured traditions. Despite it’s humble, small-batch production, Corte Vetusto has amassed 8 Gold Medals from the world’s most prestigious spirits competitions. Proving mezcal is more than just a ‘smokey tequila’, Corte Vetusto has created a super-simple, luxury highball serve The M.C.T (Mezcal Coffee Tonic), a refreshing upgrade on the much-loved espresso-laced cocktail. It’s a captivating blend of aromatic wood smoke, roasted agave sweetness and minerality from the mezcal, enriched by the coffee and given a refreshing fizz to finish – perfect to savour on an Autumnal evening.
Ingredients:
– 30ml Corte Vetusto Espadín
– 60ml Cold Brew Coffee
– 80ml Premium Tonic
Method:
Pour all the ingredients over ice, into a highball glass, stir well and garnish with an orange wedge.
