The martini’s long-running revival shows little sign of slowing down. To mark World Martini Day on 20th June (get it in your diaries, people), a handful of East London’s bars are joining forces for a week-long cocktail trail that puts the classic serve centre stage.

Running from 12th – 20th June, the East London Martini Map links six bars within walking distance of one another around Shoreditch and Redchurch Street. Each will be serving its own interpretation of the martini for £7, offering drinkers a chance to compare styles, from crisp and traditional to more playful variations featuring ingredients such as preserved lemon, mango, fig leaf and chilli.

Among the participating venues are Equal Parts, Mad Cats, Rain Dogs, The Sun Tavern, Umbrella Workshop and Without Papers (to see where each bar is located, have a gander at this map here). While some bars are opting for stripped-back versions that stay close to the martini’s roots, others are using the format as a canvas for experimentation.

A number of one-off events will accompany the trail. On 18th June, Equal Parts will host a guest shift with Cork bar Cask, while World Martini Day itself will see The Sun Tavern pairing martinis with complimentary oysters and live music.
