The Lowdown: The Vurger Co have smashed it out the park since they arrived on the London street food scene back in 2016. We’ve been rooting for these guys from the beginning, because, well, their vegan burgers will make your tastebuds sing. Up for grabs are veggie-filled patties topped with a whole host of condiments, sweet potato fries and thick shakes blended with everything from chocolate and hazelnut to banana and caramel. The Oreo Shake is just what the doctor ordered: a nut milk base blitz with Oreo pieces, finished with a heavy hand of vegan cream and crumbled Oreo. For an extra £2 you can spike your shake with either whisky or rum. One of the best vegan milkshakes in London, without a doubt.

2. For a Dessert Shake: Yorica
Order: Banoffee Pie (£6.65)
The Lowdown: For all your dairy-free drinking needs, Yorica is the place. This Soho-based ice cream parlour is completely cruelty-free; think ice cream, soft serve, shakes, crepes, and waffles – all free from all 14 major allergens, and lovingly created with mother earth’s finest ingredients. All shakes are blended with rice milk for the perfect, creamy mixture, and finished with a swirl of dairy-free whipped cream on top. Go for the Banoffee Pie creation – a dessert/drink fusion of banoffee ice cream blended with vanilla and chocolate soft serve.

3. For a Tropical Shake: The Diner
Order: Coconut Ripple Vegan Milkshake (£5.50)
The Lowdown: The Diner has left no stoned unturned with their American comfort food veggie and vegan friendly menu. Available at select locations, the menu pays homage to large stateside portions and stick to your ribs hearty fast food. There’s three vegan shakes on the menu that can easily count as a pudding, mainly because they’re super sweet, but mainly because they’re downright delicious. Opt for the coconut ripple shake – a sort of non-alcohlic Pina Colada that can be pimped up with Oreos, peanut butter, a shot of coffee or house liquor.

4. For a Peanut Butter Shake: Cookies and Scream
Order: Peanut Butter Shake with Chocolate Fudge Sauce (£3.50)
The Lowdown: Cookies and Scream take vegan baking to the next level with their wondrous bakes, and larger than life chocolate chip cookies. Transport yourself to vegan sweet treat heaven with a slice of their bourbon pie, or warm pecan pie served with dollop of ice cream. Their shakes contain a unique mixture of vegan and gluten-free ice scream and milk, blended with brownies and/or cookie pieces, and one of their specially developed sauces. The flavours here go beyond the classic orders: cookie dough balls, whisky and toffee, and the zombie – a DIY shake including 2 sweet treat options and sauces. Whatever the weather, Cookies and Scream always brings the sunshine.

5. For a Freakshake: The Canvas Cafe
Order: Peanut Butter Freakshake (£8)
The Lowdown: The Canvas Cafe is a fully vegan restaurant where Square Mile coffee, a cracking soundtrack and lunchtime greats are the order of the day. Freakshakes were a fleeting trend that hit the capital a few years ago, but at The Canvas Cafe, they’re here to stay. The plant-based freakshakes feature a combination of homemade vegan ice cream blended with almond milk, topped with soya whipped cream, and piled high with freakshake elements – everything from wedges of homemade cakes, to bashed up biscuits and chunks of dark chocolate. One of the best vegan milkshakes in London, for sure.
