If there’s ever been a time to tick “flying through the air” off your bucket list, it’s this summer — because Gorilla Circus is back in London, and they’re inviting you to swing, soar and flip like a true trapeze artist.

From 18th April 2025 in Regent’s Park and 16th May 2025 in Kensington Gardens, Gorilla Circus transforms these green spaces into open-air trapeze schools where absolutely anyone — yes, even you — can learn to defy gravity.

The Lowdown

Gorilla Circus offers flying trapeze classes for everyone aged 8 to 78, no experience needed and no upper fitness limit. Whether you’re looking for a unique day out with friends, a family bonding activity, or a birthday experience to remember, their Level 1 classes are open to all.

A typical two-hour session looks like this:

Warm-Up: Stretch and prep your body.
Low Bar Practice: Get a feel for the moves on a low bar.
Flying Trapeze: Climb the ladder, step onto the platform, and swing through the air under the watchful eyes of expert instructors.                                                              Catch Exercise: If you’re up for it, you’ll even be caught mid-air by a pro trapeze catcher — circus dreams come true.

Fun for Everyone

Not ready to commit? Try a single drop-in session. Hooked after your first swing? Sign up for a course and learn fancier tricks. As you progress, you’ll refine your timing, build strength, and maybe even train with specialist gear used by the pros. Gorilla Circus is big on community — they run student showcases throughout the year so you can show off your new skills while your mates cheer you on. Many of their instructors started out exactly where you will: nervously climbing that ladder for the first time. The transition from practice bar to trapeze feels very fast! however there is something

Flying through the air might sound nerve-wracking, but you’re in good hands: every piece of equipment is inspected regularly, and first-timers wear safety belts and are always clipped in securely. A giant net underneath means even the wobbliest landing is a safe one.

Founded in 2009, Gorilla Circus has made aerial arts accessible, inclusive, and seriously good fun. It’s the kind of thing you’ll talk about for weeks afterwards — plus, you’ll never look at a circus show the same way again. Also please be warned this is the ultimate workout my abs were hurting 4 days after taking part!
