March is shaping up to be a month for serious indulgence. From towering lasagnas to Greek island feasts and inventive Indian residencies, London’s bars and restaurants are opening their doors to guest chefs, pop-ups and playful collaborations. Here’s our top picks:

1. For a South Asian Pop-Up: Albers x Firangi

What: This March, there’s a quiet shake-up coming to De Beauvoir. For two weeks only (5th – 12th March), Albers will host a kitchen residency from Firangi, bringing a burst of inventive South Asian cooking to the neighbourhood bistro’s stove.

Eat and Drink: Throughout the residency, Firangi co-founders Ruhi and Simar will lead the kitchen alongside the Albers team, serving dishes shaped by seasonal British produce, bold spices, and creative reinterpretations of familiar flavours. Highlights from the menu include a Ghee podi flatbread with pickled wild garlic; Masala Scotch egg with black olive caramel and thecha; Poha-stuffed chicken wing with tamarind mole and rhubarb relish; and Pork chop with Kalu curry congee and roasted grapes. To finish, a sweet and indulgent Rum banana and chai ice cream.

2. For a Celebration of South Asian Ingredients: Lyaness x BiBi

What: For one week in March, Lyaness hands part of its bar over to BiBi for a special residency. The Thames-side bar, led by Ryan Chetiyawardana, has long treated ingredients as subjects for research; Chet Sharma’s restaurant approaches Indian cooking with a similar forensic streak. Their week together, starting Monday 9th March, focuses on spice; where it comes from, how it travels, and what happens when it moves between glass and plate.

Eat and Drink: Available from Monday 9th – Friday 13th March, 5pm to 9pm, expect dishes that balance heritage with technical precision. Oysters sharpened with pear jal jeera, slow-cooked lamb neck nihari with kulcha, and a cherry blossom and chocolate mousse that leans into both nostalgia and finesse. In response, the Lyaness team builds three drinks around the same spice-led palette, drawing on cassia leaf, house blends and fermented green peppercorn with Lakadong turmeric.

3. For a Carb Contest: Gloria

What: To mark the return of its towering 10-Level Lasagna, Gloria is staging a one-day Lasagna Cook-Off – a carb-heavy contest that brings some of the capital’s best-known pasta kitchens into direct competition. On Sunday 8th March, the Shoreditch restaurant will host a line-up of rivals, each serving their signature take on the Italian classic.

Eat and Drink: Joining Gloria in the fray are Noci, Via Emilia, Senza Fondo, 64 Compton Street and Passione Vino, each bringing its own interpretation. Guests will taste all six in a shared format, comparing ragùs, béchamels and structural integrity along the way. A judging panel will deliver the final verdict, crowning one champion by the end of the afternoon

Where: 54-56 Great Eastern Street, London EC2A 3QR

The lasagna entries will be judged by an all star panel and all profits from the event will be donated to Casa Italiana. Tickets are available via the link here.

4. For a Guest Chef Series: The Palomar x Millie Lagares

What: For the first time since opening its doors more than a decade ago, The Palomar is inviting guest chefs into its Soho kitchen for a new one-night pop-up series. Long regarded as a fixture of the neighbourhood dining scene, the restaurant will host a rotating line-up of up-and-coming talent, each creating a clutch of specials to sit alongside head chef Dan Murray’s existing à la carte.

Eat and Drink: The series begins on Monday 9th March with Millie Lagares, the London-and Tokyo-based cook and author recently named one of Time Out’s Best Young Chefs in London. For The Palomar, she will serve a raw tuna dish dressed with ponzu, olive oil and lemon zest, finished with shiso flowers; shio koji-marinated chicken thigh with grilled shallots and a miso, butter and walnut sauce; and a bright mizuna salad with radish, blood orange and Japanese onion dressing. Dessert comes in the form of toasted vanilla and malt ice cream with hojicha biscuit, while the bar will pour a kumquat martini garnished with pickled kumquat.
