This November, Mattia Bianchi and DIRT. are back for the second year at Berber & Q Shawarma Bar, celebrating the diverse soil and climates in the wine world. For the first three Sundays (4th, 11th, 18th) in November, Mattia will take on two leading sommeliers from London and beyond, as they hunt in search of the best bottles from their chosen soil: Salt (Wines of the sea), Magma (Volcanic wines) or Peak (Mountain wines).

Showcasing and sharing the stories behind their bottles, from a few well known to the downright obscure, as well as others completely new to the London wine scene and sourced outside the UK, guest sommeliers will go head to head and whoever’s bins are emptied first, will come out on top. Kicking off proceedings on the 4th November with the theme of ‘Salt’, Mattia will be joined by Bastien Ferreri of Frenchie Covent Garden and Bo Bratlann (Ex Amass). Taking the helm on the 11th November, in search of ‘Magma’, will be Margaux Aubry Sharratt of Naughty Piglets and Dominik Ginzinger of o boufés in Vienna before the grand finale on 18th November with Yukiyasu Kaneko (Ex Noma), Honey Spencer of BASTARDA and special guest Stefano Colombo of Bar Brutal in Barcelona, tasked with the theme of ‘Peak’.

All wines will be available by the glass and bottle and keeping everyone well fed, co-founder Josh Katz and Shawarma Bar’s Head Chef Victoria Heafield have devised a menu including roast pumpkin, feta, green harissa (£5.50), lamb fokta, mint yoghurt, filfel chuma butter (£6.50), marinated feta, beets, orange blossom, oregano (£5.50), wild bream crudo, black olive, lemon (£7.50) and Colchester oyster and burnt chilli jam (£3.50).

Tickets are £19 per person, which includes two glasses of wine and a Matbucha hummus. Additional wines are available to purchase by the glass (£12 two glasses) and bottle. Doors for DIRT. will open at 5.30pm until the wines are gone.
