The London Taco Experience Returns for a Day of the Dead FiestaBy Alicia Grimshaw
London’s appetite for bold flavours and big celebrations shows no sign of slowing. This November, The London Taco Experience returns to Riverside East with a Day of the Dead special: a lively homage to Mexican tradition, reimagined with East End flair.
After a sell-out debut earlier this year, the taco takeover is back on Saturday 1 November, transforming the industrial sprawl of Stratford’s Riverside East into a riot of flavour and colour. Expect an afternoon (and evening) of smoky birria, hand-pressed tortillas and frozen margaritas, all served with a side of Latin exuberance.
Some of the city’s best-known taco traders are rolling in for the occasion. Family-run Taco Bros will be slinging recipes passed down through generations, Tacos MX will bring their slow-cooked birria, and Mex Club (adored by the gluten-free crowd), will be serving authentic street classics with a twist. Also on the line-up: NOPALITO, the award-winning taqueria known for its modern spin on Mexican comfort food; Polanco, the sleek Mexican restaurant with a loyal East End following; and cult favourite La Chingada, who’ve built a fanbase one dripping carnitas taco at a time. More traders are yet to be announced, but one thing’s certain: this is not a night for restraint.
Organisers are capping taco prices at £4.50 apiece (a blessing for anyone keen to taste their way through the lot). Alongside the eats, guests can dive into mezcal tastings, a ‘Hot Sauce Showcase’ (bring tissues), and margaritas aplenty.
Tickets are on sale now. Come hungry. Leave happy. And don’t forget to wear something you can spill salsa on.
