With summer just around the corner in California, we’ve put together five of the best rooftop bars in LA’s most walkable city – West Hollywood – to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather with a cocktail in hand. The city’s rooftop bar experiences are synonymous with West Hollywood, and many offer spectacular views of the wider Los Angeles area. Grab your mates, it’s time to drink:

1. For a Slick Space: Catch LA

The Lowdown: Perched above the streets of the stylish West Hollywood Design District on the corner of Melrose Avenue and San Vicente Blvd, Catch LA is the West Coast’s outpost of acclaimed New York restaurant CATCH, serving globally influenced seafood and cleverly designed cocktails. Eating in the main area beneath the retractable roof offers a beautiful indigo sky view; alternatively you can step outside to the surrounding outdoor patio to drink in the views of Downtown LA and the Hollywood Hills.

2. For a Rooftop Haven: E.P.+L.P 

The Lowdown: Located on La Cienega Blvd., E.P. & L.P. overlooks the Hollywood Hills and Sunset Strip, and is known for housing one of the largest rooftop decks in LA. Serving Asian-inspired street food along with hand-crafted cocktails, E.P.+L.P. is open daily until 2am – and party goers can stay toasty around the around the fire pit whilst watching the sun set over the city.

3. For Craft Cocktails: Pearl’s Liquor Bar 

The Lowdown: Found on Sunset Blvd., Pearl’s Liquor Bar has a rich history of rock and roll, reflected in the interiors and style of the bar. (Side note: The Doors played here nightly before they became the house band at Whisky a Go Go.) Today, Pearl’s is a 1920s style upscale bar and restaurant, with two adjoining rooftop patios – each with their own bar and spectacular views over the city and beyond. Dine during the day whilst enjoying small plates and complementing wines, or join the hustle and bustle at night as the city lights come to life on the Sunset Strip.

4. For Pool-Side Cocktails: Skybar

The Lowdown: Nestled on the rooftop of the Mondrian Hotel, Skybar is an open-air, ivy-covered pavilion surrounding the rooftop pool, with wide open windows to sit beside and admire the incredible vista of Downtown Los Angeles. Skybar is one of the hottest spots in West Hollywood for nightlife, starting as a chic idyllic poolside lounge by day, before transforming into an exciting hip hangout zone with world-class DJs and sparkles of West Hollywood glamour in the evening.

5. For Nature and Nightlife: Petit Ermitage

The Lowdown: The Petit Ermitage Hotel exudes a bohemian boutique vibe, with every detail displayed lovingly selected to fit the quirky hotel style. The hotel’s enchanting private rooftop has become the perfect stop for a relaxing evening, with several different spaces to choose from. At the firedeck, exclusive film screening events are held under the stars every Monday, and for a more tranquil experience, drink amongst hummingbirds and butterflies in the rooftop garden – a space recognised as a sanctuary by the National Wildlife Federation.
