The Danna, Langkawi: The Lowdown

On the beautiful shores on the tropical Malaysian archipelago of Langkawi lies the Danna Langkawi. Our room was nothing short of spectacular, on the top floor with sweeping views of the beach, pool area and the jungle. It was a haven of comfort and sophistication of colonial aesthetics with modern comforts. Unusually we found ourselves going up earlier to the room in the day to enjoy the private balcony with its sweeping views of the sea and crucially a cooling whirlpool. If you are looking for even more space and privacy, The Danna Villas are an excellent choice. Located actually on the beach, befit with a private butler whatsapp service and your own private swimming pool and sunbathing canopy, they are the perfect choice for a couple or a family. You can be in your bed and in two minutes be running into the sea.

The Danna Langkawi The Food

Dining at The Danna Langkawi offered a plethora of options. “The Planters”, the resort’s main restaurant was the place for the most expansive breakfast, with anything you could desire from middle eastern fare, to a Malaysian noodle soup, to a English breakfast fry up. The buffets in the evening were also a place to try traditional Malaysian fragrant food from moreish curries to spicy soups and for desert including our favourite mini sticky mango and rice. Dinner at the Italian restaurant, The Terrace was a wonderful opportunity for seriously good pasta and pizza which felt like a real treat, with views overlooking the sea.

This hotel offers an array of activities and amenities that cater to every inclination. If you are a pool person, there is the widest and longest pool you can imagine. If you are a sea person, walk 20 feet further and you can find yourself in the silky sandy shores of the Langkawi beach. If you want to get your adrenaline pumping, jet skis and other water sports are available on the resort. At the heart of the resort, the spa offered a haven of tranquility, with treatments inspired by traditional Malay wisdom, designed to rejuvenate and revitalise. For those seeking rejuvenation, the resort’s signature spa provided the most heavenly and through of massages ironing all our knots away.This is a place seriously focused on you actually relaxing. Representatives  from the spa give you a welcome head and neck massage for when you arrive from the airport.

The Danna Langkawi can offer a plethora of activities to ensure your stay is filled with adventure and cultural immersion. The resort’s concierge can arrange island-hopping tours to explore the archipelago’s stunning landscapes, from secluded beaches to lush rainforests. You can even pop to Langkawi’s most popular attraction, the Sky Bridge, a pedestrian sky bridge 660 metres above sky level, a mere five minutes away from the resort.
