Hong Kong’s soul thrums with an infectious energy, its streets a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and scents. Yet sometimes it can feel like one big sensory overload: neon lights blinking, horns honking, and street food aromas swirling. Tucked away in Kowloon is the Kerry Hotel, your oasis of calm amidst the urban jungle. A place of understated elegance, luxury and panoramic harbour views proved the perfect place for this reviewer to experience her first typhoon, which shut down the city for two days.

Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong: The Rooms

Imagine this: plush, modern rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Victoria Harbour like a giant, sparkly postcard. Wake up to sunrises splashing gold across the city and drift off to sleep with the twinkling skyline. Our windows provided the stage for crazy thunderstorms and lightning, we had never stayed in a room which has such incredible panoramic views. Everything about the room is total luxurious comfort; great tech, massive bathtub and rain shower.

Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong: The Facilities

The Kerry Hotel doesn’t just offer stunning views and luxurious comfort, it’s also a haven for adventurous foodies. Forget generic hotel fare; here, each restaurant is a distinct melody, harmonising to create a truly memorable culinary experience. We had all our meals during the typhoon in the Big Bay Cafe, home to the biggest lunch buffet in the whole of Hong Kong. It’s a culinary journey through interactive cooking stations, offering everything from sashimi to curry to fresh seafood to pasta. It took us a solid four minutes to video the whole trail throughout.

In addition to its luxurious accommodations and dining, the Kerry Hotel boasts a range of amenities designed to cater to every need and desire. Fitness enthusiasts can take advantage of the state-of-the-art gym and outdoor swimming pool, while those in need of relaxation can indulge in a rejuvenating spa treatment at the hotel’s serene wellness centre. The latter was sadly closed during our stay, but it would be the perfect spot after a long day sightseeing.

Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong: The Verdict

Spending a solid 48 hours in this hotel for a typhoon means I am in a better place to review this hotel than many others. The Kerry Hotel Hong Kong is unequivocally a luxurious haven amidst the vibrant energy of the city; a glorious place to retire to after a hectic vibrant day in the city. Yet the way the hotel responded to the crisis was nothing short of spectacular, and the most memorable aspect of the Kerry Hotel is its impeccable service. The attentive staff went above and beyond to look after us, many having to stay in the hotel overnight. We would return in a heartbeat.
