Top 5: Accessories for Summer and Spring in 2016By Angelica Malin
Summer is just around the corner, and there is no better way to prepare yourself for the sunshine than by adding a few summer accessories to your wardrobe. This year some of the best designers have created stunning and innovative accessories that will complement the perfect summer outfit. From graphic bags to head dresses and vintage sunglasses, we have put together this list of our favourite trends to help you get ready for the summer sun.
Shoulder Dusters
Long, dangling earrings that reach the tops of your shoulders are popping up everywhere from the high street to the catwalk, and we think they are the perfect accessory for a summer outfit. Designers Consuelo Castiglioni of Marni in Milan, Phoebe Philo at Celine in Paris, and JW Anderson, have been creating large abstract earrings for a few seasons, and now the trend is really taking off. Worn with a spaghetti strap top, or an off the shoulder top, this look is glamorous and a great way to show off a summer tan. This style looks best when kept simple, so go easy on other jewellery and accessories.
Bold Graphics
We have already seen colour spread on the runway in LFW, and this season bold prints and bright colours are taking over our accessories. One of the biggest trends for spring and summer in 2016 is printed handbags. From animal prints to bold floral prints to tie-dye and pretty much anything that is bright and striking, our favourite prints for summer are abstract floral prints, brightly coloured stripes, and gingham patterns.
Statement Watches
A statement watch is a great way to accessorise an outfit without going over the top, and this season’s watches are big and beautiful. A gold Cartier, or a white-faced Rolex with a leather strap, would both turn heads and grab attention, the gold especially would suit a classic white summer dress. Some luxury watches on this website are bound to be fitting for whatever look you’re into.
Platform Sandals
In autumn, platform shoes were grabbing all the attention on the high street, and this season the platform heel is here to stay with platform sandals proving to be just as popular. Chunky straps and even chunkier heels combine to create a look that is part nineties, part minimalistic punk.
Glitter and Sparkle
No summer outfit is complete without something that shines this season. From glittered phones, to embroidered sequins to diamante details on shoes and jackets, this look is about loving all that glitters.
