Get ready for feasting, fun and flippin’ good Chinese hot pot as Poon’s – the renowned Chinese restaurant family – will take over the kitchen at Mortimer House for two days of celebratory dinners to mark the Chinese New Year.

Overseen by Bill Poon with his children, Amy and Alan Poon in the kitchen, the supper clubs will take place on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th February, bringing two one-off menus to Mortimer House for the Year of the Tiger.

Poon’s x Mortimer House: The Menu

The first night will be centred around the steamboat – a Chinese hot pot – with guests encouraged to gather around the pot of Chinese bone or vegetable broth and cook their favourite combination of ingredients at the table, from deep-fried tofu puffs, marinated pork fillet and chicken thighs to prawns and seasonal Chinese greens. On each table will be a selection of Poon’s signature sauces to add to the steamboat, including fiery Extraordinary Chilli Oil, lip-puckering Chilli Vinegar and earthy, intensely savoury Poon’s WO Sauce – their take on XO sauce with salted shrimp and home-dried bacon made to an old family recipe.

The second night will offer a five-course tasting menu showcasing some of Poon’s most iconic, time-honoured dishes, including pork and bamboo shoot wontons with crack sauce, braised beef flank with star anise and Chinese radish, and drunken chicken, finishing with tofu pudding.

Both menus are priced at £55 and include a welcome Poona Colada apéritif, a distinctly Poon’s take on a classic piña colada with coconut water. Vegetarian options of both menus will be available.
