If it’s delicious and worth your money – we know about it. From a new ramen joint to a Thai breakfast menu, here’s what you should be eating in the capital this week. Time to munch:
What: If you like jerk chicken, roti wraps and good times, you’ll be pleased to hear that Rudie’s have opened a second branch at Boxpark Shoreditch. Like the sister site in Dalston, expect tapas-style dishes of regular Rudie’s favourites such as their signature real jerk chicken, curry goat and boss burger.
Why: The Rudie’s team have also introduced a new grab and go concept, including a selection of Jamaican lunch options such as the Jerk-It-Up (signature real jerk chicken with sweet potato, rice’n’peas or chow chow slaw); Yardie (curry goat or stew peas with roti, fried plantain, rice’n’peas or slaw); and Jah Love, one of their vegetarian boxes (ackee and sweet peppers, callaloo, fried plantain and rice’n’peas). Their famous roti wraps also remain on the menu- choose between curry goat, jerk chicken, jerk pork or callaloo and mushroom fillings.

What: Wahaca are encouraging people to break their New Year’s resolutions and celebrate the new year instead. All you have to do is tell Wahaca where it all went wrong, and Wahaca will reward you with a complimentary plate of tacos. Job done.
Why: Fill in your details online here and the team at Wahaca will email over a Broken New Year’s Resolution Reward Card, which can be redeemed in their restaurants across the UK this January. Tacos include the new fire-roasted poblano pepper and corn with crushed new potatoes, herbs and ancho mayo; grilled chicken and avocado with sweet ancho chilli, fresh guacamole and tomatillo salsa; and plantain with sweet and spicy chipotle adobo and a crumble of feta.

What: From Thursday (25th January), Smoking Goat Redchurch Street, will open its doors for breakfast from 10am Thursday to Sunday. And the best bit: Smoking Goat is offering free breakfasts from 25th – 28st January. See the website to book.
Why: Head Chef and co-owner Ali Borer has created a menu focused around freshly made roti, cooked from scratch on a charcoal skillet in the open kitchen. The rotis will accompany green curry with smoked brisket, burnt ends and curried saffron eggs with lardo. Larger breakfast and lunch dishes include an aromatic Thai style fried chicken with curry sauce from Het Yai (a Thai town famous for its fried chicken) and daily variations on D’tom Kha, a cleansing and heady fresh coconut milk and galangal soup served with smoked fish and bitter herbs. Sweet dishes include freshly made doughnuts with Kachanaburi province wild honey.

What: Bone Daddies are spawning like rabbits. And for good reason. Where else will you find little jars crammed full of hairbands sitting alongside the standard ramen accoutrements of garlic, sesame seeds, vinegar and chilli oil? How thoughtful.
Why: The menu at newly opened Bone Daddies Nova offers all the original ramen dishes, including the ever-popular T22 ramen, with the optional addition of the famed cock-scratchings, the classic Tonkotsu with its 20-hour pork bone broth and the vegetarian Tantanmen ramen made with kara-age tofu and bok choy. There’s also the new addition of maki rolls, including spicy tuna roll and softshell crab roll, exclusive to Victoria. The site sells offer the Yuzu Margarita, the signature Bone Daddies cocktail, and a range of Japanese sake and whiskies.

What: On Saturday (27th January), Pizza Union’s brand new site in Dalston is throwing a pizza party to wrap up arguably the most boring (and bleakest) month of the year. From 6pm, Pizza Union is giving away free pizzas and limoncellos to their first 100 guests to arrive, as well as 50 of their indulgent dolce pizza rings to share.
Why: There are no tickets for the night so just need to swing by, be prepared to queue and grab the goodies. The menu features all sorts of pizza greats like the classic Margerita; Formaggi with mozzarella, parmesan, mascarpone and gorgonzola; Fungi with mozzarella, mushrooms and thyme; and Romana, a medley of mozzarella, goat’s cheese, pancetta bacon and broccoli.
