Looking for some new eats in the capital? We’ve got the lowdown on the best new restaurant openings and menu launches in London this May:

1. For Grab n’ Go Lunch: SushiDog, Soho

SushiDog has announced that its brand new site will open on Brewer Street in Soho on 10th May. The brand, founded by childhood friends Greg Ilsen and Nick Goldstein, currently has two sites, one on Covent Garden’s Tower Street and one located within Westfield White City.

The duo confirmed they will be opening two new sites, the first is coming to Brewer St, Soho on 10th May while the second site will open in the City later in the summer. Both sites will replicate the existing grab & go format which allows customers to personalise their order, or choose from the range of signature rolls, bowls and salads.

2. For Healthy Eats: atis, Notting Hill

Following the success of their Shoreditch and Eccleston Yards Store, atis, the vibrant, healthy and flavour-packed salad and bowl bar is opening their third site in London, Notting Hill amongst the hustle and bustle of Pembridge Road. The ultra-hip new site will officially open its doors on Wednesday 27th April, with their renowned build your own bowl offering as well as the new Spring menu for guests’ to enjoy.

Customers will be able to choose from a selection of delectable fresh ingredients to create their own salad and warm bowls, encouraging guests to get creative whatever their mood.

3. For a New Local: The Alliance, West Hampstead

Located on Mill Lane in West Hampstead, The Alliance has been a core part of the community for many years, including being listed as an Asset of Community Value in 2021. The pub was taken over by Loci Pubs earlier this year, a small hospitality group founded by brothers Ben and Ed Robson, and Adam Gostyn, who grew up in the area and are still north-west London locals. The regularly changing, seasonal menu will feature crowd-pleasing dishes from Chicken Schnitzel with Capers, Anchovies, Gravy and a Fried Kentish Brown Egg, to vegan Miso-Glazed Aubergine with Katsu Sauce, and fully loaded Sunday roasts. The bar is fully stocked with a selection of draught and craft beer, with a focus on British breweries and friends of Loci Pubs, including Verdant and Two Tribes Brewery. Entertainment for the little ones will also be on offer every Sunday, with a space in the pub hosted by The Kids’ Table, providing crafts and activities for children.

4. For a Summer Terrace: The MAINE Mayfair

The MAINE Mayfair will open its new private terrace this spring. Directly off Bond Street and overlooking Medici Courtyard, in a tranquil sun-filled spot just off Hanover Square, this must-visit hidden gem will open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch, dinner and drinks from 5 May 2022. Located in the original gardens of 20 Hanover Square, this 100-cover space is set to become one of London’s most coveted summer spots. Here, striped awnings, elegant wicker furniture and plenty of greenery provide the perfect backdrop for long, sunshine filled lunches and early evening dinners throughout the summer months.

The à la carte menu features a variety raw bar items, charcuterie, small plates and wood-fired fish and meats. The weekend brunch menu includes hero dishes such as chicken and wafflesstacked buttermilk pancakesbillionaire French toast and the classic full Maine breakfast. It’s dog-friendly too!

5. For Californian Cuisine: Yeotown Queen’s Gardens

Inspired by the holistic approach to healthy living key to the winning formula at Yeotown Devon – Britain’s leading award-winning health and wellness retreat – Yeotown is launching a second flagship restaurant in London. Part of the new Inhabit Queen’s Gardens Hotel, Yeotown Queen’s Gardens is the new addition to the growing Yeotown family, a gorgeous light-flooded relaxed space with 70 covers and a charismatic marble bar.

Serving a Californian inspired menu, guests can indulge on beautifully plated, healthy and tasty nutritional dishes, from breakfast in the morning to social sharing in the evening. The Yeotown menu is free from dairy, meat, refined sugars and is largely gluten free.

6. For a Mango Menu: Jamavar

This May, Jamavar, the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant on Mount Street, Mayfair, will be celebrating India’s Alphonso mango. Available throughout May, the specially designed seasonal menu champions the fleeting joy of the much-adored fruit, in Jamavar’s signature Pan-Indian style. To start, guests will be served chaat with a tart twist: potato tikki on a bed of spiced white peas, balanced with bitter raw mango. There’s a selection of dishes, such as a whole Tellicherry Pepper & Garlic Soft Shell Crab, accompanied by a sharp and spicy homemade mango chilli chutney and crisp garlic chips; and marinaded Kasundi Paneer Tikka paired with mango three ways.

Main dishes include south-Indian recipes from The Nair family archives such as the Meen Manga Curry, featuring tender sea bass and raw mango cooked with fenugreek and Kerala spiced coconut milk; and Mango Puliserry, a curry made from Alphonso, coconut and yogurt with tempered mustard and chilli; both of which are served with Thoran, Aloo Palak, Dal Jamavar, Steamed Rice and Assorted Breads. For dessert, Burnt Mango Tart will be paired with a fresh Alphonso salsa and mango sorbet. There’s also a freshly prepared Mango Lassi or one of their signature botanical cocktails, such as the Ginger Mango Mule, Achaari Margarita or Fruit & Nut sour.
