About Time: You Discovered the Best Rooftop in EdinburghBy Adam Hassanali
If you’re visiting Edinburgh and looking for the best rooftop bar this summer — look no further than the W , with a side of world-class cocktails, elevated dining, and panoramic views W Edinburgh has just raised the bar.
W Deck: The Lowdown
Perched high above the city on the 12th floor, W Deck is now officially open for the summer season, offering 360-degree views of Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, Calton Hill and George Street. From chic afternoon wine sessions to sunset cocktails with live music, this is where locals and visitors alike can soak up Scotland’s capital in serious style.
W Deck opens seven days a week (Scottish weather permitting), transforming into a sky-high playground for lovers of signature cocktails, crisp summer wines, and vibrant beats. Sip on seasonal creations like the Arthur’s Seat (Bacardi, pineapple, crème de mûre) or the Leith Walk (Bombay Sapphire and mint-infused nori liqueur), or opt for a glass of Whispering Angel Rosé or Laurent Perrier Champagne. For a fresh twist, smoothie lovers can try blends like The Red One — a bright mix of beetroot, grapefruit, ginger, celery, and green apple.
Fridays bring the W Sunset Sessions — live music from homegrown talent, 7pm–10pm — the perfect soundtrack to golden-hour city views.
For something truly memorable, book one of W Deck’s sleek glass dining pods. With uninterrupted views and access to the full W Lounge menu, these private spaces are made for romantic evenings, special celebrations, or festival firework nights when the city skyline sparkles.
Inside, W Lounge serves an elevated new menu from Executive Chef David Lilley, inspired by Scotland’s finest produce. Expect seasonal small plates like Cured Scottish Salmon with lemon curd and sea herbs, and larger dishes such as North Sea Spiced Cod with samphire pakora and Bombay potato. Pair your dish with cocktails like Morrigan’s Ember (Bombay Sapphire, Cocchi Torino, rosemary, cacao nibs, hibiscus water) or the autumn-spiced Wildwoods.
An Edinburgh Wine Experience Like No Other
Wine lovers can explore over 400 bottles of fine wine and Champagne on W Lounge’s striking Wine Wall. For an immersive treat, book the New Horizons Wine & Cheese Flight — a 45-minute Sommelier-led tasting pairing three exceptional wines with artisanal cheeses, uncovering their flavours, textures, and aromas.
W Deck open from 1st June, 12pm–10pm daily (weather permitting) for more information and reservations: Book here
