The Most Dreamy Summer Beauty Guide: Make-UpBy Kate Rooney
Autumn may well be on the way but we’re holding out. Summer’s beauty looks had us at ahola and we’re not ready to say goodbye quite yet.
Let’s wind back a couple of months. New season, new summer beauty launches and this year certainly didn’t fall short. We’ve tried and tested them all to bring you our final round-up of the best new landings that need to make their way into your life before they’re gone. This is our can’t-live-without beauty edit that will be loyal to you all the way until next year’s drop. We like to call it trans-seasonal beauty, but really, it’s your hot ticket to an everlasting summer beauty look.
Chanel’s Les Beiges Multi-Colour Powder in No1 is the ultimate all-in-one complexion lifter. This compact beholds a trio of finely milled powders in a harmony of blush, bronze and a fair peach shade to provide an endless combination of looks. Beach, train or pre-dinner taxi, Chanel have the answer to all of your touch-up, glow-getting prayers.
YSL’s Couture Eye Shadow palette in Afrique ticks every box. Each shade has a delicate shimmer running through it that is subtle and incredibly flattering over the lid. A mix of five divine (and again, trans-seasonal) colours; taupe-meets-auberine, copper, gold and pink . Soft, blendable and ideal for wearing day or night.
Bobbi Brown Lightening Blush omits a hue across the cheeks that sits somewhere between ‘just been kissed’ and ‘smitten’. Now, doesn’t that sound cute? It’s the kind of product to breathe life into your beauty look that will leave everyone guessing. Wearable, radiance-inducing and a fool proof swirl-your-brush-and-go pick.
Makeup sliding off your face is just not pretty. But it happens, and we have the answer. NARS’ Pro-Prime does not only provide long wearing budge proof makeup, but it’s also your undercover sun protection. SPF 30/PA +++, oil free and paraben free, all whilst fighting against the day to day stress our skin goes through, from pollution to sun damage. An all year round beauty essential? We think so. NARS’ offering melts into the skin like soothing skincare. A cult classic and makeup bag staple.
Sun-kissed complexions are enviable. This foundation/skincare hybrid is summer skin, bottled. Take that, September. Packed with SPF 20 , Guerlain’s Terracotta Joli Teint creates a beautiful flawless base for the complexion, without the tacky or heaviness that usually comes with SPF containing summer beauty products. Wearing SPF is more powerful then any anti-aging serum money can buy. Prevention (of sun damage aka wrinkles) is key. A creamy, lightweight formula with a very build-able coverage. Guerlain’s summer collections are always on point, but this year’s drop has to be the most impressive yet.
Volume, length, drama. Step forward the mascara that really can do everything. A full, fluttery look that can be really amped up. Dior’s Addict It-Lash’s wand means business, getting into the root of each individual lash. The formula despite not being water-resistant is long wearing and doesn’t drop. We’re huge fans of the twin It-Lash eyeliner. Watch it in action over here.
Lipsticks are tricky. You tend to want them all, you’ll look at them (for unhealthily long periods), procrastinate (a lot) shortly followed by struggling to forget about that one you left behind. Beauty shopping can be tough going sometimes. But don’t fear – we’ve whittled them down so you don’t have to. Take a look at our epic eight:
