About Time: You Celebrated Beaujolais Nouveau at The BuxtonBy Alicia Grimshaw
Every November, French wine lovers celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau, an enduring tradition marking the first release of the year’s Beaujolais wine. Originally designed to get locals drinking early vintages straight from the vineyards of the Beaujolais region, the day has grown into a global event, with tastings, dinners, and parties that toast the new vintage as soon as it drops on the third Thursday of the month.

This year, East London’s The Buxton is joining the celebration with a special one-night residency from Le Kitchen, a Bib Gourmand restaurant from Lyon making its London debut. On Thursday 20th November, Le Kitchen’s Head Chef Connie Zagora, a Ferrandi Paris alum, will serve a four-course menu inspired by seasonal produce from The Culpeper Family’s urban farm, paired with low-intervention wines, including bottles from Beaujolais winemaker Sylvère Trichard.
The menu is inspired by seasonal cues from The Culpeper Family’s urban farm; fresh herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers will feature alongside rich, indulgent Lyonnaise classics. The menu ranges from delicate smoked duck heart with beetroot and star anise purée to the more decadent Oeuf en Meurette, soft-boiled eggs in red wine sauce. It ends with chocolate desserts and house-churned ice cream. A reminder that Beaujolais Nouveau celebrations aren’t just about wine, but about food, company, and the pleasures of lingering at the table.
