Few things in life deliver quite as much joy as a really good bowl of pasta. Add a generous helping of Parmigiano Reggiano and youโ€™ve got the makings of a very happy afternoon. At Pasta Evangelists in Harrods Food Hall, this is an indulgence worth pulling up a chair for. We popped down to Harrods to experience their new collaboration, here’s everything you need to know:

The Lowdown

Pasta Evangelists has partnered with Parmigiano Reggiano for a celebration of one of Italy’s most treasured ingredients. They’ve created two special dishes that showcase the distinctive flavour, versatility and heritage of the King of Cheeses.

Across Pasta Evangelists restaurants, diners can discover Fusilli Pesto alla Genovese with Parmigiano Reggiano (ยฃ15), combining fresh fusilli with a vibrant basil pesto and Parmigiano Reggiano matured for 24 months.

At Harrods, the partnership is celebrated through Carnaroli Mushroom Risotto with Parmigiano Reggiano (ยฃ32), an indulgent dish bringing together earthy mushrooms, creamy Carnaroli rice and Parmigiano Reggiano.

Pasta Evangelists is also launching a series of six exclusive Parmigiano Reggiano pasta-making classes, led by Chef Roberta. Taking place once a month, each class will celebrate the distinctive flavour of Parmigiano Reggiano through a hands-on pasta-making experience.

The Food

We took our seats close to chef Mario, giving us a front-row view of the action. Watching him cook was half the pleasure: the careful preparation, the steady attention to the pan and the anticipation of that first forkful.

With a history stretching back to the Middle Ages, when Benedictine monks first began making it, Parmigiano Reggiano is more than a finishing flourish. Made with raw milk and matured for at least 12 months, it brings a wonderfully savoury, nutty depth to the plate. Here, it gets its moment in the spotlight.

The highlight was the Carnaroli Mushroom Risotto with Parmigiano Reggiano, created exclusively for Harrods. Earthy mushrooms, creamy rice and the rich, savoury cheese came together in a dish that made a persuasive case for ordering risotto at a pasta counter.

The Bolognese was another winner: deeply comforting and the sort of dish youโ€™d happily return for. Come hungry, and preferably with someone willing to share.

The Verdict

Go for a leisurely lunch rather than a pit stop. With a close-up view of the cooking and dishes that put Parmigiano Reggiano to delicious use, Pasta Evangelists gives you a very good reason to make Harrods Food Hall the destination, not the detour.
