We’re such big fans of chorizo we decided to hunt down the capitals finest chorizo dishes. Happy feasting, London:

1. The Cool Cucumber: Ask For Janice

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

What: Chorizo, sherry and sourdough

Why: Ask For Janice remains one of my favourite places in London. The atmosphere is buzzing, the G&Ts are other-worldly (and I don’t even like gin), the service is on point and the food is perfect. The stand-out dish on a little menu full of gems is the chorizo slow cooked in sherry and served with a chunky slice of sourdough. The choz itself is sticky and unctuously melting, the sourdough its perfect companion – like a best mate who stoically soaks up all your craggy bits and never takes any credit.

2. The Brunch One: Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings

BRUNCH

What: English muffin with chorizo and avocado

Why: Everyone knows that age old crippling brunch dilemma. Decedent Eggs Benedict or punchy Huevos Rancheros? Should you crown your eggs with romantic béarnaise or a sexy salsa? The struggle is not only real, but agonizing. But fear not About Timers, redemption has arrived, and it goes by the name of Huevos Benedictos. Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings’ dish consists of the mighty chorizo, avocado, béarnaise sauce and pico de gallo. You can thank us later.

Where: 42 Northampton Road, London, EC1R 0HU

3. Chorizo on High: Aqua Nueva

Soft Poached Egg with Chorizo Pancetta Fried potatoes

What: Poached egg with chorizo, fried potatoes and pancetta

Why: This place is worth a visit for the roof terrace overlooking Regents Street alone. Above the throngs of manic Oxford Street lies a place apart from it all. Cocktails are king here (try the Penicillin – Whiskey, lemon, honey – or pop next door to Aqua Kyoto for their earth-shattering Green Tea Colada). But if you order one thing to eat at Aqua Nueva, make sure it’s the tantalizingly textured soft poached egg with chorizo, pancetta and fried potatoes.

Where: 5th Floor, 240 Regent St, London W1B 3BR

4. The Chilled One: NY Fold

Fabio pizza

What: The Fabio

Why: The guy who runs NY Fold has won the World Pizza Championships six times. And yes, that is a real competition. It’s the kind of place which eschews thin-based pizza for chunky, New York style pies. If that’s your thing, you need to come here and try the Fabio:  Spanish Chorizo, castel vetrano olives, sundried tomato pesto, mozzarella, burrata. Heaven.

Where: 103 Charing Cross Rd, London WC2H 0DT

5. Sexy Swine: Cau

CAU

What: Sweet potato and chorizo hash

Why: If chorizo could swipe left on any other foodstuff, it would be the glorious, luminescent sweet potato. These two were made for each other. That’s what makes this cheap-as-chips dish at Cau such a likely romance. Chow down on the sweet potato and chorizo hash served with a baked egg and chilli for six quid. We guarantee it’ll set your world on fire.
