What: On the outside it’s all shiny glass and contemporary architecture, overlooking Cardiff Bay. Inside, you’ll find rooms that are beautifully light and airy, and a stunning spa and pool to work up an appetite in.


Eat: Options include Welsh laverbread with cockles and Eggs Florentine, both are dished up in the Tempus at Tides restaurant. With views of the waterfront (that you can enjoy from the outdoor terrace), it’s definitely not the worst way to start the day.

What: Set amid stunning gardens and with views of York Minster, you couldn’t ask for a better spot in the centre of the city. Rooms come in muted neutrals that feel elegant and super relaxing.
