The Vera Hotel Review: The Lowdown

If you’re looking for an inspiration, design-led stay in the heart of the city, you can’t miss The Vera. All over Tel Aviv, industrial spaces and old office buildings are being re-imagined as trendy bars, restaurants and hotels. It’s how Tel Aviv is growing and changing – an office block that is now a rooftop bar, an old warehouse that’s become the hottest new restaurant in town. Bang on trend, The Vera, a former 1950s office building, has been re-designed by Yaron Tal Studio to become a super sleek, sexy hotel. 

The hotel’s location is fantastic; The Vera is a boutique stay, located in the renowned Bauhaus Rothschild Boulevard area, one of the trendiest places to visit in Tel Aviv. The design of the hotel is rather special – it’s basically like a Pinterest-worthy dream, created by collaborations with local designers and brands for its amenities, services and furnishings. The Vera is more than a hotel: it’s a lifestyle destination, offering access to a spa treatment room, a bar serving great cocktails and small bites, a rooftop for yoga and tailored concierge service. We think it’s going to be big news in Tel Aviv in 2018.

The Vera Hotel Review: The Accommodation

The Vera is boutique in size, which makes it feel personal and accessible. The hotel accommodates 39 rooms in 4 categories – classic, deluxe, superior and garden room – as well as a bar, spa treatment room, and two spacious, communal rooftop terraces. We loved the look and feel of the hotel, with bespoke furniture by Tel Aviv-based furniture designer Tomer Nachshon and unique light fixtures are designed by Ohad Benit. The Vera is the first property of Israeli hotelier Danny Tamari, who wanted to create a ‘local anthology’ in the hotel, through collaborations with local designers, brands and talents throughout the space.

The accommodation itself is very luxury; all slate grey, marble, copper finishes and stone floors, with a distinctly Scandivian feel. There’s nice finishes too, such as the luxury toiletries by 100% organic brand Arugot, and their own magazine The Vera Magazine in-room, which is a collaboration with Telavivian magazine, giving you all the local zeitgeist and trends. There’s some lovely touches throughout the hotel, such as the hotel lobby hosts a vending machine that dispenses cocktails exclusively created by local mixologists and local wine on tap. We love.

The Vera Hotel Review: Our Verdict

We fell in love with The Vera, and we think you will too. The hotel is sleek, discreet and sexy, in a fantastic location. The hotel’s staff were super friendly and helpful, helping us discover Tel Aviv as a local, and we loved the easy, laidback style of the hotel. The hotel’s interiors are simply to die for, and the personal touches around the hotel, such as the wine on tap, the relaxation spaces and the abundance of indoor plants and natural plants, makes it the kind of place you want to spend hours in. We couldn’t recommend The Vera enough for a short break in Tel Aviv – and we think this is going to be the hotel of the summer.
