We enjoy two things here at About Time: making plans and a right royal knees up. And this article of is full of them, especially the latter. Here’s what to do in London this weekend – happy exploring, London:
1. For a Street Party: Our/London
What: Sundays: a time for recovery, relaxation or keeping the party rolling. However you want to enjoy your day of rest, you can do it all at RECOVER – a Sunday yard party at London’s first dedicated vodka distillery, Our/London. The team are inviting locals, their friends and family to the distillery to enjoy a day of killer Bloody Mary’s, Kombucha cocktails, tasty street food, first class coffee and ultimate Sunday session vibes. What to do in London this weekend? Drink all the vodka, basically.
Why: Serving Bloody Mary’s made with The Pickle House’s new signature mix, Our/London is partnering up with fellow Hackney-ites JARR Kombucha who’ll be on-hand for all your detox and retox drink needs, and local DJ HAAi of Dalston’s Ridley Road Market bar, spinning laid back soul, funk and Motown. You can get your caffeine fix courtesy of the top-notch baristas from Coffee Space and sugar hit from Fairy Pan, while food truck Sub Cult will be serving up gourmet subs including surf, turf and veggie options. It’s all free too!

2. For Art: Brown‘s London Art Weekend

What: This weekend sees the launch of Brown‘s London Art Weekend, the third annual art event happening at Mayfair and St. James’ galleries with a exciting programme of events taking place across the area’s busy galleries, museums and public spaces from 1st July, running until Sunday 3rd July. During the Art Weekend, internationally acclaimed artist Sophie Ryder will be exhibiting in London for the first time in over a decade at the newly-opened Hignell Gallery, specialising in contemporary sculpture, in Shepherd’s Market, Mayfair.

Why: Highlights include Gallery HOP!, happening today, and a masquerade party inspired by Sophie Ryder’s use of mythological creatures in her work. Hignell Gallery will provide Hare and Minotaur masks to try on at the gallery but everyone is encouraged to create their own to wear. Head down on Saturday 2nd July, for a tour of exhibitions in Mayfair by leading female artists including Yayoi Kusama at Victoria Miro and Louise Nevelson at PACE, led by Abby Hignell and Maeve Doyle of Bankrobber, starting off with brunch at HIX Mayfair. On Sunday, swing on by for Ryder in Residence – Sophie Ryder will be creating live work and signing copies of her latest hardback book ‘A Life in Sculpture’.

3. For Wine and Nibbles: Nyetimber x The Kensington
What: Nyetimber has today opened its new pop-up bar celebrating quintessential Britishness, located on the terrace at The Kensington hotel. The temporary bar is running until next Sunday 10th July. One of the best things to in London this weekend, we think.
Why: The pop-up bar, a concept developed by The Kensington’s Bar Manager Ben Manchester, serves Nyetimber Rosé by the glass and bottle, alongside Executive Chef Steve Gibbs’ Wimbledon inspired dish of the classic strawberries and cream. Made with Nyetimber jelly, Kentish strawberries and elderflower cream, the dish honours The Kensington’s emphasis on seasonal and local produce to recreate simple, British dishes with an imaginative twist.

4. For Downward Dogs: Secret Yoga Club’s Supper Club Sunday
What: What a new way to find that inner calm? Secret Yoga Club is hosting their monthly Supper Club Sunday, this Sunday 3rd July. Happening on the first Sunday of every month, SYC invites renowned teachers to join the team for unique yoga sessions followed by a nourishing vegetarian feast cooked by their talented chefs.
Why: This Supper Club Sunday, Zephyr B. Wildman will be taking the event. Zephyr has been teaching yoga since 2002 in London, trained via the very first Yoga Campus Intake and has been a teacher and a mentor on their yoga training programme since 2005. Her teachings focus on combining the elements of creative movement, flow and dynamic sequencing, focusing on alignment, prana vayus and kinesiology.

5. For Mexican Wrestling: Lucha Libre
What: Mexico’s iconic masked superheroes will be returning to the UK to perform in The Greatest Spectacle of Lucha Libre, an electrifying two-day extravaganza taking place at London’s York Hall in Bethnal Green today and Saturday 2nd July. Following the success of last year’s event, Londoners once more will be invited to experience the mythical, dangerous, acrobatic and heroic world of Mexico’s masked wrestlers.
Why: For two nights only, London’s famous York Hall will be transformed into a Mexican Arena, transporting everyone to a timeless era where legends and new Lucha stars battle in epic live confrontations of Good vs. Evil. Presenting a stellar line-up of Mexican and British stars, The Greatest Spectacle Of Lucha Libre will feature the mighty Silver King, international wrestling star Juventud ‘Juvi’ Guerrera, Brazilian capoeira masked luchador Zumbi, high-flying luchador Cielito, El Paso’s magnificent Magno as well as Mexico’s female stars Lady Apache and Chika Tormenta. They will be joined by the UK’s own Lucha Libre stars, the heroes of ‘Lucha Britannia’, featuring the exótico Cassius and the incredible Pure Britannico amongst others.

6. For Sweat and Sass: Lululemon’s SWEATLIFE Pre-Party Pop Up
What: Can’t wait for the lululemon SWEATLIFE festival this summer? (More on that at a later date, but it’s happening 30th July). Neither can we, so here’s a little preview. As proud Canadians, lululemon celebrate Canada Day this weekend, with a pre-party SWEATLIFE pop-up at Old Truman Brewery.
Why: There is multiple yoga classes on offer from the likes of Annie Clarke (Mind Body Bowl), Steffy White (Steffy White Yoga) and Kelly Marie (Good Life Yoga UK), as well as a meditation station, and even a special Beyonce dance class instructed from Cassius at FRAME. Of course, there will also be the latest technical athletic apparel from lululemon available for avid shoppers, who are looking to treat themselves. You in yet? Well here’s more…. on Sunday, hang out and indulge at Yoga Supper Club, where you can expect a dynamic, energising and playful hour long vinyasa class before enjoying a delicious seasonally inspired indoor picnic supper prepared by Honestly Healthy. 0

7. For a Food Festival: Feast@Fitzrovia
What: Feast@Fitzrovia is back for a third year running and this year, the all-star cast of restaurants, chefs, cafés, bistros and bars are coming together to celebrate an array of international culinary delights. Until Sunday 3rd July, get yourself down to sample gourmet menus, and get involved in the various events happening over the weekend.
Why: For the duration of Feast@Fitzrovia, exclusive special menus will be on offer, limited discounts available and a host of events will be taking place for those who want to uncover both the hidden and celebrated restaurants in this foodie destination. For a Party: RITUAL Summer Series 2016
What: Madison London, notoriously known for their stunning views of St Paul’s and impressive cocktails has just launched a one-off, daytime DJ series featuring some of biggest names on the party scene. The daytime series, called RITUAL, is welcoming headliner Steve Lawler to the stage on Saturday 2nd July.
Why: Ritual have joined forces with the production creators of the infamous Secret Garden Part festival, to transform Madison rooftop into an Amazonian rainforest. The headline DJ’s will be providing the soundtrack to an Ibizan Summer from 12pm to 6pm.
