London Foodie Guide: Jackson & LevineBy Angelica Malin
TV presenter Laura Jackson and DJ Alice Levine are the duo behind Jackson & Levine, a supperclub held every two months in a warehouse in Haggerston. Championing fresh local produce, the ladies curate seasonal menus that differ from month to month. We caught up with the duo to discuss their favourite foodie spots in the capital:
London’s best breakfast can be found at:
We have a few favourites, Dishoom has the best bacon naan, Granger and Co for avo on toast, the Pavillion in Victoria for a full English, and A Little Bit of What You Fancy in Haggerston for their eggs and homemade chilli jam.
Favourite bakery:
Violet Bakery on Wilton Way in Hackney. They have the most amazing cake selection and also do an incredible breakfast. When the sun is out you can sit on one of their tables outside and watch the world go by whilst sipping on an iced coffee and mini coconut cake.
Favourite place to grab a coffee:
The Towpath cafe in Haggerston on Regents Canal has a great coffee with an even better view. We always order a latte to go before having a little stroll on our afternoon break.
Favourite Italian restaurant:
Trullo is hands down our fave, wash down the ragu with an Aperol Spritz – heaven.
Where’s your favourite area in London to go and eat out?
East London. The food scene is so exciting in East London, everything is a short walk away and there is so much choice, from fine dining at the Clove Club, to Spanish at Morito on Hackney Road or Vietnamese on Kingsland Road.

What’s your go-to local restaurant?
At the moment we’re enjoying My Neighbour The Dumplings that has opened in Clapton. The food is so tasty and you feel like you have been transported to china – the sake cocktails are delicious too.
Favourite cafe for lunch:
Hands down The Rochelle Canteen. This is the place we eat lunch the most, we love how simple yet special all of the food is – great seasonal ingredients cooked beautifully. We are also in love with Alcides who is front of house, and calls everyone darling.

Favourite street food stall:
We love King’s Cross Market. Poke, for savoury Hawaiian tuna poke salad (raw tuna with avocado and sesame) and then have a little walk to Blu Top Ice-Cream for your sweet fix, we love the ice cream sandwiches!
Favourite restaurant for a celebration:
We really love Trishna in Marylebone; the rose petal lassi is one of the most amazing things we have ever tasted.
Favourite restaurant for dinner:
We really love Brawn, it’s really chic and understated – no unnecessary frills it’s just exceptional good cooking and the panna cotta is to die for.

Do you have a particular dish from a restaurant that’s your go-to?
We love the pepper pici at Padella – so simple, yet so delicious.
Favourite place to grab a cocktail?
Sager and Wilde has the best wine selection, but we are local pub girls and love a good G&T.
Favourite place to pick up produce for your supper clubs:
Stoke Newington veg shop, growing communities veg market on a Saturday, The Italian Deli in Stoke Newington and Natoor.com for specialty ingredients.

Favourite pub:
We love The George on Wilton Way, The Royal Oak on Columbia Road and The Duke of Wellington in Haggerston as this is our local!
