Attend This: Firebird & Friends, Celebrating International Women in HospitalityBy Alicia Grimshaw
Soho’s very own Firebird restaurant is back with its much-loved ‘Firebird & Friends’ series, and this time, they’re shining the spotlight on some of London’s most talented female chefs, restaurateurs, and sommeliers. It’s all happening this March, just in time for International Women’s Month.
Last year’s event was such a hit that Firebird couldn’t resist bringing it back for an encore. And this year, they’re pulling out all the stops. The line-up includes Adriana Cavita, Ana Ortiz, Abby Lee, Theres Andersson, and a few other culinary maestros, all coming together to create unforgettable dining experiences.
From March 8th, they’re kicking things off with a fiery collaboration between Adriana Cavita and Ana Ortiz. Oaxacan flavours meet Ecuadorian traditions in a mouthwatering menu that’s all about celebrating the art of cooking over open flames. And of course, there’s a mezcal cocktail waiting for you at the door, courtesy of Maya Jules.
Then, on March 20th, it’s time for Abby Lee to take centre stage. Her modern Malaysian dishes are bold, vibrant, and packed with flavour. From grilled sardines to stuffed squid, it’s a culinary journey you won’t want to miss. And let’s not forget the wines – Firebird’s resident sommelier, Anna Dolgushina, has handpicked the perfect pairings to complement Abby’s fiery creations.
But wait, there’s more! March 25th sees Theres Andersson stepping into the spotlight, showcasing her innovative Scandinavian seafood cooking. Expect everything from flambadou oysters to Birch-cooked scallops, paired with Nordic drinks curated by sommelier Ania Smelskaya.
And dessert? Oh, you won’t want to skip that. Pastry chef Veronica Martinez Garrido has whipped up something truly special – a refreshing pine sorbet.
Each event includes a 4-course dinner priced at £70pp with an accompanying wine pairing £45pp.
