About Time: You Visited Kutir’s Rooftop RestaurantBy Alicia Grimshaw
Critically acclaimed Chef Rohit Ghai had to close Kutir due to the UK-wide lockdown, but has since re-opened his townhouse restaurant in a brand new, floral adorned rooftop space above the dining room. Kutir’s chic outdoor terrace, probably the smallest in London, has room for 16 guests and boasts views overlooking the tree-lined avenues of Chelsea.
The refined restaurant is serving a brand new menu specially designed for delivery and al fresco dining, including dishes such as tandoor paneer served with sweetcorn and papaya salad, a keema paratha with pink peppercorn raita, and a soya apricot mince with fenugreek and potato salli. It also offers a signature four-course Expedition menu (with a vegetarian option available also) for £65, and £60 for two respectively.
Rohit’s signature dishes of prawns masala and Llmb rogan josh remain, much to the relief of Chelsea residents who haven’t been able to enjoy them since March 2020. The entire menu is available on the terrace, and for delivery and takeaway from the restaurant from 1pm to 10pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Rohit Ghai (the first Indian Chef to win a Michelin star – at Jamavar – in under a year), opened Kutir in late 2018 with business partner Abhishake Sangwan. Rohit Ghai has an impressive CV, having been Executive Chef at Bombay Bustle, Jamavar, Gymkhana, Hoppers, Trishna, Verandah (in Copenhagen) and Benares over the last 10 years.
If there’s one rooftop restaurant to visit in London this summer, make sure it’s this one.
