On Bank Holiday Monday (2nd May), the eve of Eid, Dishoom will host its first-ever Chand Raat celebration, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. And you’re invited.

Taking place at the spectacular Landing Forty-Two on the 42nd floor of ‘The Cheesegrater’, from 7.30pm to 10pm, Dishoom’s Chand Raat invites people from all faiths and walks of life, whether fasting or not, to come together for a unique feast overlooking the city skyline at sunset.

Chand Raat (‘night of the moon’) takes place every year on the eve of the Islamic festival of Eid al-Fitr, when the sighting of the new moon marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. All proceeds from the event will go to Dishoom’s long- term charity partner Akshaya Patra, honouring the Islamic tradition of zakat (charitable giving), which is central to Ramadan.

Chand Raat guests will be welcomed by Dishoom co-founders Shamil and Kavi Thakrar, and Executive Chef Naved Nasir. At the prescribed times for sunset, fast will be broken together over thalis of dates, salad and snacks, against a backdrop of sweeping city views. A soundtrack of live instrumental music will begin after dinner.

The call to prayer will be led by Hassen Rasool, who will also recite surahs, verses and Mahgreb prayers. Afterwards, guests will be seated on long sharing tables for a communal feast of Dishoom dishes, including Lamb Raan and Jackfruit Biryani, Keema Pau, Pau Bhaji and Dahi Vada, complete with plentiful bowls of Basmati Kheer for dessert. Dishoom’s signature House Chai will be served in abundance. There will also be a headline live performance from Chand Ali Khan Qawwal, the renowned group specialising in the sacred art form of qawwali music.

Tickets are priced at £30 per person, including all food and drink.Tickets will be available to purchase here on Friday 22nd April at 9am.
