Spitalfields is one of the most diverse parts of London, and the food of the market truly follows suit. Whether you’re craving good food, just fancy a snack, or feel like treating yourself to some amazing flavours, Spitalfields E1 has everything you need from comforting classics to exciting bites. Here’s what you need to know:

Spitalfields E1: Friday Dinner

The Lowdown: Every Friday, Spitalfields plays host to a number of top-notch food stalls for the Startisans Market, celebrating the capital’s newest generation of food start-ups and artisans, whilst creating a unique and exciting experience for the London foodie. With a stall for every different world cuisine you can think of – from Columbian Arepas to Korean dumplings – this market it has it all.

Don’t Miss: The clues is in the name, but Adi Best Burgers really does churn out the best beefy wonders. The burgers are made from beef sourced from happy cows on the Isle Of Man. Go for the cheeseburger with bacon. It’s a classic.

Gimme More: Souvlaki Street is another unmissable food stall. Soft, fluffy souvlaki topped with thick and creamy mint yogurt and your choice of meat. Go for the lamb, or the chicken. You know what – just order them both.

Spitalfields E1: Street Food

The Lowdown: There’s a plenty of food trucks at Spitalfields E1, full of flavour and authenticity. For a soul-nourishing breakfast, head to Le Swine for the best bacon butty in London. Hand downs, the best butty. Take your taste buds to the states with an authentic Philly cheesesteak from the Liberty Cheesesteak Company: look out for the signature pinstripe food truck. And if that’s not enough, check out the UK’s first duck only restaurant, The Duck Truck. Try out mouth-watering goodies like the duck burger and duck fat chips, or go for a healthier option with pan fried duck breast and pomegranate salad.

Don’t Miss: The cheesesteak sandwiches from the Liberty Cheesesteak Company are made using prime ribeye beef, and topped with Liberty’s very own Wiz, made to a very precise recipe. All of the above is stuffed into a white Italian loaf, that is both soft and chewy, yet with enough of an exterior crust to ensure it doesn’t fall apart with the addition of hot meat and cheese.

Gimme More: The Merkamo Ethiopian food stall dishes up vegan and veggie Ethopian grub that will give you plenty of food for your British buck. And served by some of the friendliest staff in East London.

Spitalfields E1: Sweet Treats

The Lowdown: If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then say no more: Cake wizards Konditor & Cook are ideal for cakes with brownies to die for, and their hot chocolate is sensational. If you fancy smaller snack, head to Lola’s for the prettiest cupcakes in London, or to Crosstown Doughnuts for a range of flavours from classic vanilla glazed to the more experimental crème brûlée or apricot and lavender.

Don’t Miss: Nude Espresso not only serve some ludicrously delicious coffee, but their baked goods are also mega. They bake all of their cookies, and other sweet goods on site – and they’re great paired with a flat white. Try their walnut, praline carrot cake; it’s banging.

Gimme More: Haven’t eaten a Crosstown Doughnut yet? Order the banana and sea salted caramel doughnut, or the peanut butter with jam, and thank us later.

Spitalfields E1: Brand New Bites

The Lowdown: If that hasn’t whet your appetite, Spitalfields E1 has recently welcomed three new food traders! Say hello to Smokoloko, serving smoked meats out of a locomotive turned barbecue. Try out some warm cheesy goodness from The Toastie Truck, or check out the super stacked bagel burger from The London Bagel Co.

Don’t Miss: The London Bagel Co have created three burger bagels featuring all kinds of quirky flavour combos. Grab a napkin and bite into their fat bastard; prepare for your chin to be hit with sweet, meat juices and your face to be covered in sauce. It’s a sit down and appreciate this bagel in all its glory kind of situation.

Gimme More: You can’t replicate the cheese toasties from The Toastie Truck at home. You just can’t. Order the Fat Pig with mozzarella, mature cheddar, crispy bacon, smoked Monterey Jack cheese and maple syrup. And people say cheese toasties are boring.
