March 30th is just a couple of weeks away and while you may be safe in the Moonpig postal window, restaurants are getting booked up fast for the biggest day of the year in Mum world. Not got anything planned yet? Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up the best restaurants to treat your beloved mum, grandmother, or any special person in your life this Mother’s Day.

1. For a Taste of Portugal: JOIA

What: Portuguese bar and restaurant JOIA is offering an à la carte menu featuring its flavour-packed signature plates coupled with a complimentary glass of bubbles for mums.

Eat and Drink: Starters of Beef Pica Pau, Hand-dived scallop and Glazed aubergine, followed by mains of traditional Portuguese plates such as Arroz de Marisco with Bomba rice, Red prawns, mussels and clams or Iberica pluma with tomato and apple puree, pickled mushrooms and Madeira sauce will be on offer, as well as a vegetarian dishes such as Orzo Verde with asparagus and wild mushrooms. To finish: a Portuguese signature sweet treat, Torrija with caramelised brioche, almonds, raspberries and Madeira ice cream or the indulgent Basque Cheesecake.

2. For a Biryani Feast: Hoppers

What: Sri Lankan restaurant Hoppers is offering a special Biryani Banquet designed for sharing. 

Eat and Drink: A selection of short eats inspired by the rich journey of Buriani across regions and cultures, including Mutton rolls, Lentil rasam soup and Chickpea and cucumber salad. For the main course, choose one signature Buriani to share, with options including lamb, chicken, or jackfruit, or the new Malabar seafood buriani, packed with soft shell crab, tiger prawns and squid. To end on a sweet note, try Hoppers’ Watalappam, a creamy coconut custard pudding.

3. For a Limited Edition Menu: Madera at Treehouse Hotel London 

What: Madera within the Treehouse Hotel London is running a limited edition menu available on Sunday 30th March only.

Eat and Drink: A section of shared antojitos to start including; Quesadilla Gobernadora; Ceviche tostada with guava and Potato Flautas. Delicious Mexican-inspired mains feature the classics; Mexican-style roast chicken; Zarandeado-style fish and salsas; Cauliflower adobada steak and Fideo Seco with cauliflower cream. To conclude the meal, choose from a section of desserts including; Cashew brown butter sponge, Coconut lime mousse and lemon ice cream; Chocolate and prune tart with vanilla ice cream, and Madera churro tossed in spiced sugar, chocolate sauce and dulce de leche.

4. For a Themed Brunch: Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill

What: To celebrate Mother’s Day, the luxury, five-star hotel will be hosting a special 1940s brunch in a nod to the hotel’s namesake.

Eat and Drink: A huge buffet offering alongside a live carving station and dessert trolley. In keeping with the 1940s theme, there will be décor to match the era including English-garden inspired tables with candelabras, newspapers and vintage props, theatrical table service and live music by a 1940s singer.

5. For Michelin-Starred Dining: Murano

What: This Mother’s Day, enjoy an elegant dining experience at Murano, where Michelin-starred Italian cuisine meets the finest British ingredients.

Eat and Drink: The specially curated menu offers a selection of refined dishes, from Wye Valley asparagus with wild garlic gribiche to delicate Guinea fowl agnolotti in brodo. 6. For Sunday Lunch: Café Deco

Eat and Drink: The garden afternoon tea at The Teahouse, is a celebration of nature, with nourishing and wholesome recipes that reflect the rustic and spirited style of Petersham Nurseries. Savoury bites come in the form of Vegetable muffin, Poached chicken on toasted brioche, and Smoked herb trout and cream cheese sesame puff, alongside sweet dishes of Matcha fruit strudel, Lemon semolina cake, and Orange and chocolate Sacher cake.

8. For a Roast: Dovetale

What: Dovetale, the restaurant at 1 Hotel Mayfair from two Michelin star chef Tom Sellers, is celebrating the best produce the season has to offer this Mother’s Day with a roast from 12-8pm on Sunday 30th March.

Eat and Drink: Begin with Carlingford oysters and a glass of Gusbourne Sparkling Wine, followed by a selection of light starters. For the main event, expect a perfectly cooked roast served with all the trimmings followed by something sweet including the infamous Knickerbocker Glory or Warm Peruvian chocolate souffle, Earl Grey and cocoa nib ice cream. To make the day even more special, a live watercolour artist will be on the terrace from 2pm –5pm, capturing moments as beautiful keepsakes.

9. For a Japanese Brunch: Roka

What: In case you’re not fancying a roast on Mothering Sunday, Roka will be serving their much-loved Han Setto brunch – a feast featuring sushi, sashimi and a top-notch dessert platter.

Eat and Drink: Available at Roka Aldwych and Canary Wharf, the brunch kicks off with a selection of sharing starters, including: Chef’s sashimi selection; Crispy prawn and avocado maki; Fermented chilli cabbage; Prawn dumplings with yuzu truffle dressing and more – followed by one main each, and the indulgent ROKA dessert platter to finish. Fancy some vino? Free-flowing red, white, rose and sparkling wine can also be added to the brunch, along with a bellini on arrival, or Champagne for an extra special meal.
