About Time: You Celebrated Diwali at DishoomBy Angelica Malin
If there’s one thing Dishoom knows how to do, it’s bring people together – and this month, their much-loved restaurants are going bigger than ever for Diwali. Here’s everything you need to know about celebrating Diwali at Dishoom:
The Best Diwali Restaurants in London: Feast at Dishoom & Beyond
For the first time ever, Dishoom’s festivities are heading north. On Wednesday 22nd October, Hockley Social Club in Birmingham will host its own night of light and celebration, complete with a BBC Asian Network-curated soundtrack and a spread of Dishoom favourites. A proper knees-up, Bombay-style.
Dishoom’s Diwali 2025 Menu: Flavours of Bombay and South India

Liz and Max Haarala Hamilton
From 13th to 28th October, Dishoom is teaming up with The Tamil Prince for a limited-edition dish: Coconut & Green Mango Malai Kofta with Laccha Naan. Created by Chef Arun Tilak and Chef Prince Durairaj, it’s rich, fragrant and packed with the kind of nostalgic flavours. The dish will be served at all Dishoom and Permit Room cafés – and on Deliveroo too.
If you’re up for something more intimate, head to Dishoom Shoreditch’s Verandah on Tuesday 28th October for a one-off Diwali Supper Club. The two chefs will serve up a three-course vegetarian feast inspired by their own Diwali memories from India – tables laden with snacks, curries and puddings, all washed down with bottomless chai.
Celebrate the Festival of Lights at Dishoom’s Taash Nights

Meanwhile, the Permit Room cafés are hosting Taash Nights – a nod to the card parties at the heart of Diwali celebrations. From 13th to 28th October, drop by after 8pm to play, snack, sip and soak up the festive energy. You’ll get your own set of Permit Room playing cards to keep, plus a menu full of comforting curries and knockout bar snacks. We recently visited the Permit Room in Portobello and enjoyed a feast of Ruby curries, great vegan options and sublime cocktails.
What’s more, the team has collaborated with Bombay artist Ayushi Patni on a limited-edition chai tin, inspired by the tiled charm of old Irani cafés. Dishoom’s Diwali celebrations have always been about more than food; they’re about connection, generosity, and a little bit of magic. This year, there’s light and laughter waiting at every table – all you need to do is pull up a chair.
