Summer in London is heating up, and so are the city’s menus. Restaurants across the capital are embracing the season’s freshest ingredients, offering vibrant dishes and sun-soaked small plates that are perfect for sharing. Go on, have a scroll.
1. For a Veggie Menu: Bala Baya
What: Located under the Old Union Arches in Southwark lies Bala Baya’s secluded courtyard serving a new menu of vibrant summery dishes.
Eat: There’s all sorts of delicious dishes like the Green Salad, with green chillis, apple gazpacho, tenderstem broccoli, bok choy and grapes, served with sesame and pumpkin dukkha, and the Season’s Flowers – a fried tempura courgette flower stuffed with three cheese polenta and topped with harissa honey and herbs. Finally, the Club Tropicana sees a showstopper stack of yellowfin tuna tartare topped with avocado and fresh pineapple on a base of crispy kataifi pastry.

2. For Small Plates: Kapara
What: Kapara’s secret suntrap terrace, tucked away in James’ Court, boasts a new range of summer plates.
Eat: Tuck into Summer Tomatoes featuring Heritage tomatoes with mustard dressing, ricotta, crispy pita and a dusting of sumac; Duck and Peaches, a duck liver pate served with peach compote and babka brioche; and the Sunny Prawn Tacos – a succulent harissa king prawn served with zingy lemon aioli and a honey and nigella taco.

3. For a Terrace Menu: Lilienblum
What: Lilienblum, grown-up sister to global cult pita sensation Miznon, has introduced a selection of summery dishes to its roster.
Eat: New summer arrivals include fig carpaccio mosaic – a deeply caramelised onion tart with anchovies; salt-baked beetroot with clotted cream and orange vinaigrette; Mussels bruschetta; blue crab burkas; and onglet steak drizzled in dark chicken jus with seasonal baby vegetables. Order the downright delicious chocolate mousse for pudding.

4. For a Set Lunch Menu: Murano
What: Murano by Angela Hartnett has launched its summer set-lunch menu, available exclusively throughout August. From Monday to Saturday, it’s two courses for £50 or three-courses for £55, and features a selection of fresh, summer dishes.
Eat: Highlights include: Tuna tartare, citrus dressing, soft herbs and crispy capers; stone fruit and tomato Panzanella with fresh focaccia; Baked plaice fillet with black olive, tomato and pine nut caponata or Pork shoulder with apricots and fresh almonds for main; and a choice of Poached apricots diplomat or Dark chocolate tart served with lavender ice cream for dessert.

5. For a Set Menu: Ramen Yokocho X NARUTO
What: Ramen Yokocho has collaborated with cult Japanese manga series NARUTO SHIPPUDEN to create a set menu for summer.
Eat: Highlights of the menu include a special recipe Char Sui Miso Ramen with beansprouts, extra BBQ pork belly, nitamago egg, nori, spring onion, extra naruto, menma bamboo shoots and umami special red ball (there’s a vegan option too!). For dessert, choose from Matcha Dorayaki and Vanilla ice cream, Adzuki Dorayaki and Matcha ice cream or Vegan mochi ice cream filled with Vegan miso chocolate & cookie dough all served over specially designed themed NARUTO SHIPPUDEN paper.
