The brisk and chilly United Kingdom produced a winner of a dish when they created their good ol’ Fish and Chips. A fresh piece of middle cut line-caught fish, covered in a delicious batter, served with a side of oily, finger-lick worthy potato chips is a dish we’re always game for. 

Pho – Vietnam

Pho (pronounced “Fuh”) is a broth-based dish that dreams are made of. Travellers from far and wide come home raving about the magical food experience that Pho is. The Vietnamese dish combines broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat into a beautiful soup that leaves nothing to be desired. 

Fajitas – Mexico

This DIY dish is a fan favourite at many gatherings. Put succulent chicken, sweet peppers, cheese, and Mexico together and you are bound to create a knockout meal. The spicy yet sweet flavours play on your palette for hours.

Lasagna – Italy 

If you are looking for a rich, creamy, and delicious meal that everyone in the family is guaranteed to love, lasagna is the dish. The Italians that came before us created a masterpiece with lasagna. Layers of creamy white sauce, cheese, bolognese, and pasta sheets turn into a dish many of us would kill for. 

Bunny Chow – South Africa

Duban’s bustling beachfront is scattered with food stalls and trucks, all with fantastic aromas wafting out of their kitchens, pulling innocent passersby closer. These trucks are all selling one thing – Bunny Chow. Bunny Chow is half a bread loaf which has been hollowed out and filled with a flavourful curry.

This spicy chicken dish makes it into our list with a zing. Piri-piri chicken, cooked to perfection over a flame, is the perfect amount of fire to compliment Mozambique’s incredible sky-blue ocean.

Sushi – Japan

Japan is well known for its divine sushi, a seafood dish made from seaweed, sticky rice, and raw fish. Served in bite-size portions, sushi definitely packs a punch. Seasoned with wasabi and ginger, sushi is a dish everyone should try. 

Paella – Spain

There is nothing quite like a high-quality paella. This traditional Spanish dish is made from fried rice, and seafood. Paella is made in a large pan, and the rice holds all the rich flavour from the seafood broth, leaving our mouths watering for more. 

Biryani – Pakistan/India

Biryani is a flavourful dish originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is made by cooking rice and mixing it with Indian spices, meat, and potatoes and sometimes eggs. Although it can be eaten with a variety of meats, the dish is usually eaten with chicken. 

Goulash – Hungary 

Goulash is a soup or stew made from a mixture of vegetables and beef. The dish is seasoned with paprika, cumin, peppers and other spices. You’re left with a rich and comforting stew that can make even the coldest winter night full of warm soul. 

Falafel – Middle East

A gathering is made so much more precious with the presence of a falafel feast. The falafel balls themselves are a combination of chickpeas and Middle Eastern herbs and spices. It’s the sides of naan, fresh tomato, cucumber, yoghurt and other Middle Eastern favourites that make this dish a full-on magical eating experience. 

Beef Stroganoff – Russia 

This delicious, creamy dish is a favourite in many households worldwide. The Russian dish is made by creating a mushroom sauce with beef strips on it. It is usually served on mash. It’s warm and rich comfort food. 

Pad Thai – Thailand

Pad Thai is the perfect combination of sweet, sour, fresh, spicy, and umami. Pad Thai is a noodle-based stir fry dish that is quick, easy, and superbly delicious. Grab it from a Thai restaurant or make it at home to experience great food.

There is nothing quite like a good bagel. Bagels are made from high-quality dough, which is boiled and then baked in the oven. They can be filled with anything from bacon to salmon and cream cheese. You can choose a bagel that is perfect for your taste preferences. 

Braai – South Africa

A braai is a traditional South African meal which involves cooking meat and vegetables on a wood fire. The smokey flavour of the wood permeates the meat leaving the cook with succulent, flame-grilled meats and plenty of conversation around the fire. 

Ratatouille – France

Ratatouille was originally a peasant dish in France. People who could not afford fancy meats and vegetables would combine summer vegetables that easily grow in the garden like aubergine and courgette to make a wonderful brothy stew. 

Fondue – Switzerland

A well-known dish in Switzerland, fondue consists of melted cheese that you dip different types of bread and other finger foods into. The dish is creamy, rich, and warm. 

Koshari – Egypt 

Koshari is a vegetarian-friendly dish made from fried rice, legumes, macaroni and chickpeas and topped with a lovely, fresh tomato sauce, garlic, vinegar, and crispy fried onions. This humble, Egyptian street food is a must-try. 

Spanakopita – Greece
