Dirty Bones may sound more Fred Flintstone than High Street Kensington, but this cool, vibey bar is the perfect place to put the world right over a cocktail. Be guided like a fly downwards into the glow of the red halogen lights: a dim haven awaits you, which balances a dash of ease with pinch of exclusivity.

Dirty Bones: Cocktails

We will jump straight in to say that you won’t go wrong with a cocktail. Dirty Bones have ditched the temptation to have a huge, sticky menu brimming with cocktails, and have confidently created seven concoctions. It seems that it is ‘lucky number seven’ for Dirty Bones, as deciding which cocktail to knock-back isn’t easy.

Plump for their fantastic take on the shandy: ‘Down Boy!’. A refreshing summer sipper, with just a touch ginger and  Ginseng, mixed up with Somerset Cider Brandy, Limonata and a splash Brooklyn lager. ‘The Littlelest Hobo’ is a grown up take on a Sherbet Dipdab. This utterly addictive cocktail is packed full of lemon, passion fruit and gin.

Dirty Bones: Food

If you don’t get too distracted by the liquid refreshment, attempting, and then failing to elegantly eat a hot dog comes highly recommended. The hot dogs are the creation of Ross Clarke, formerly of Heston’s Experimental Kitchen at The Fat Duck. Ross is pushing the limits of gastronomy, yet disguises his dishes as fairground fodder. Scoff ‘The Brit;’ a hot dog stuffed full of treacly bacon and mature beer infused cheese, alongside a pile of Bones Crispy Fried Chicken.

Dirty Bones: Verdict

Dirty Bones is an excellent Friday night destination. Let go of the week and treat yourself. But be warned this restaurant-bar is a one-stop-shop, with a 1am closing time, the allure of the live music and cocktails, may leave you slightly fuzzy headed come Saturday.

Dirty Bones is at 20 Kensington Church Street, London, W8 4EP
