Try This: London’s First Whisky Vending MachineBy Iona Goulder
You can now buy whisky from the touch of a button: say hello to Whisky-Me’s new vending machine. To celebrate the whisky subscription brand’s first birthday, you can purchase take-away pouches of Scotch directly from the new installation throughout November and December.
The Vending Machine is situated in front of The Napoleon Hotel which houses three of London’s finest bars including the multi award-winning whisky specialist bar Black Rock (they scooped the Best Specialist Bar at the Class Bar Awards 2017 and 2018). All you have to do is purchase tokens from upstairs bar Devils Darling to use in the machine and access one of Whisky-Me’s bespoke pouches of Single Malt (think of it as a 21st Century sporran).
Like all monthly Whisky-Me deliveries, the Vending Machine’s single malt offering has been carefully curated by founders Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson, to best represent the glorious flavours and diversity of single malt. In addition to a special ‘birthday whisky’, other available pouches hold fine single malts that have previously featured on the Whisky-Me subscription service from celebrated distilleries such as Macallan, Royal Lochnagar and Aberfeldy.
Following in the footsteps of Black Rock, Whisky-Me launched with a mission to reinvent whisky’s stereotypically serious image with a fun, contemporary approach and a belief that everyone should be able to enjoy delicious whisky without being a connoisseur. Just like the subscription service, the Whisky-Me Vending Machine simplifies the seemingly complicated world of whisky, allowing you to explore single malt pouches with minimal fuss and minimal cost at the push of a button, one (large) dram at a time.
