Barbados’ biggest exports are: Rihanna, mac n’ cheese pie (believe us, tasting is believing), and, you’ve guessed it, rum. We’re not talking about any rum, we’re talking about Mount Gay Rum –  a distillery which has been going for over 310 years, and still today, they only the finest sugar cane molasses and pure water filtered through the coral heart of the island.

That’s enough history for one day – let’s talk rum. The nice folks at Mount Gay have brought a slice of sunshine (and loads of booze) to NW1 for their special Bajan inspired terrace, open until 26th August.

Mount Gay’s Barbados Terrace: The Lowdown

It may not be Barbados, but Camden’s Roundhouse does just the job. If you’re a Roundhouse regular, the same spot which used to be home to Camden Beach has been transformed into a Barbados-style terrace with shabby chic garden furniture, twee lighting and loads of rum.

Mount Gay’s Barbados Terrace: Food and Drink

The cocktail menu includes the ultimate summer sharer: punch bowls. Alongside their massive and quite frankly, delicious, goblets of rum, there’s new summer cocktail creations, as well as Mount Gay’s signature serve, the Black Storm, a punchy blend of Mount Gay Black Barrel, gingeraAle, and garnished with an orange wedge.

Hungry? Mount Gay have left no stone unturned when it comes to the food offering. Chow down on all the meaty bites like street food favourite jerk chicken along with callaloo fried rice with peas and pineapple, jerk and pimento-dusted fries, and curried mutton.

And if you fancy your hand a spot of games and tom foolery, the terrace features activities such as Dominoes and road tennis (a kind of table tennis outdoors…without a table).

Cocktails. Games. Chicken. We are in. See you by the punch bowl.
