As a newly launched New World whisky (one of the categories to watch for 2021), and with its beautiful bottle and unique and innovative flavours, Stauning is a must-have for anyone’s home bar. New World whiskies are shaking up the category, blending tradition with innovation to create spirits which capture the essence of their origin’s culture in every dram.

To turn on your internal heating during these chilly January evenings, we’ve rounded up three Stauning warming cocktail recipes you can easily whip up at home:

After Dinner Tea

Ingredients:

– 20ml Stauning Kaos

– 20ml Creme de Cacao

– 30ml Double Cream

– 20ml Sugar Syrup

– 15ml Earl Grey reduction

Method:

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake until chilled. Double strain into a Coupe glass and garnish with grated chocolate.

Horse’s Neck

Usually made with brandy, Stauning’s Horse’s Neck is made with sweet and smoky Stauning Kaos, served with angostura bitters and a long lemon twist (the horse’s neck!) providing a dynamic cocktail to suit all occasions.

Ingredients:

– 60ml Stauning Kaos

– Ginger ale

– Lemon Peel

– Angostura Bitters

Method:

Pour Stauning Kaos into a highball glass with ice, top with ginger ale and add a dash of Angostura bitters. Garnish with a long twist of lemon peel.

Penicillin

The Penicillin was developed in 2005 as a riff on the whiskey sour by bartender Sam Ross at Milk & Honey. The aromatic blend of feel-good ingredients made it an instant modern classic cocktail, try it with Stauning’s delicious single malt Peat whisky.

Ingredients:

– 60ml Stauning Peat

– 25ml fresh lemon juice

– 25ml honey syrup

– 3 slices of fresh ginger

Method:

Muddle the ginger in a cocktail shaker and then add the rest of the ingredients. Fill with ice and shake until chilled. Double strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish with a slice of dehydrated lime.
