It’s that time of year again: Negroni Week, running from 22nd to 28th September, when London bars rally around one of the cocktail world’s simplest yet most enduring creations. Three ingredients – gin, Campari, vermouth – stirred into balance, endlessly imitated, forever reinterpreted. Across the capital, you’ll find the classic served straight-up and unapologetic, alongside playful twists that swap spirits, add unexpected flavours or take the drink somewhere entirely new. From polished hotel bars to waterside hideaways and neighbourhood newcomers, here’s where to raise a glass to the Negroni:

1. ALBA London

The Lowdown: Set on the Brompton Road, ALBA London brings a slice of the Amalfi coast to Knightsbridge. For a special Negroni Season Menu, ALBA’s Bar Manager Marco Tilocca has created 4 versions of the Negroni: a woody with a hint of vanilla Aged Barrel Negroni, a punchy coffee Negroni Svegliato with Brunette Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur, a lemony Amalfi Negroni with Allora Aperitivo al Limone, and a decadent Truffle Negroni.

Where: 70 Brompton Rd, London SW3 1ER

2. Bar Antoine

The Lowdown: For an innovative negroni served with a Japanese twist, look no further than Bar Antoine at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane. Its Ume Negroni made with Roku Gin, Amaro Santoni, Umeshu Plum Wine, Muyu Chinoto Nero and Campari. The glamorous Mayfair bar offers an impressive cocktail menu, alongside dishes from multi-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno.

3. Akara

The Lowdown: At Akara, the West African-inspired restaurant tucked into Borough Yards, the standout order isn’t something from the kitchen but a glass from the bar. The Cacao Negroni takes the familiar backbone of gin, Campari and vermouth, then deepens it with cacao. The bitterness is still there, but wrapped in a mellow, chocolate-like warmth that lingers long after the sip.

4. The Gin Bar at Holborn Dining Room

The Lowdown: Tucked inside Rosewood London, The Gin Bar is home to the new Negroni Trolley,  accompanied by an expert bartender who mixes Negronis to order. Choose from a curated trio of premium gins: Tarquin’s Gin Limited Holborn Dining Room Edition, Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru, and Hayman’s Exotic Citrus. Each Negroni is carefully stirred and served directly at the table, turning the British favourite classic cocktail into a personal and memorable part of the visit.

5. Donovan Bar

The Lowdown: Over at the iconic Donovan Bar (and for Negroni Week 2025 only), enjoy a £25 flight of Negroni-tinis: three elegant mini serves showcasing the classic Negroni and inventive variations, crafted with No.3 London Dry Gin. The three petite serves showcase the classic Negroni and contemporary twists, allowing guests to try and taste different styles of the timeless favourite

Where: 33 Albemarle St, London W1S 4BP

6. Oriole

The Lowdown: At Oriole, the subterranean bar known for its globe-trotting cocktail list, Negroni Week comes with a reason to descend the staircase: £8 Negronis mixed to a classic spec. Tanqueray gin, Campari and Mancino Rosso vermouth form the holy trinity, stirred and served with the kind of polish you’d expect from one of London’s most theatrical drinking dens.

Where: 7-9 Slingsby Pl, London WC2E 9AB

7. The Sun Tavern

The Lowdown: For Negroni Week, The Sun Tavern is serving up Italia 90, a playful, fruit-forward riff on the classic. Inspired by that unforgettable summer of football, flair, and late-night celebrations, this version swaps out Campari for the bold, rhubarb-driven Amaro Santoni, while sweet vermouth makes way for Chamberzette, a strawberry aromatised wine. A splash of peach soju adds a hit of sunshine, rounded off with fresh rhubarb juice for a zesty finish. Served over ice with a rhubarb twist, it’s a vibrant tribute to the Italian spirit.

Where: 441 Bethnal Green Rd, London E2 0AN

8. Franco’s

The Lowdown: One of London’s oldest restaurants, Franco’s, showcases 12 distinctive Negroni variations, each crafted with naturally sourced liqueurs from Quaglia, a small Italian distillery based in the Piemonte Region. The Boulevardier blends homemade black truffle Maker’s Mark with Quaglia Berto Red Vermouth and Bitter, while The Mezcal Negroni introduces a smoky edge with mezcal. For something brighter, The Rhubarb Negroni layers Beefeater Gin with Quaglia Rhubarb Liqueur, and The White Negroni offers a refined mix of Beefeater Gin, Lillet Blanc and Suze Gentian Liqueur.

Where: 61 Jermyn St, London SW1Y 6LX

9. Town

The Lowdown: At Town, Stevie Parle’s new restaurant, the Negroni gets a distinctly English reworking. The Somerset Negroni substitutes gin for Somerset apple brandy, complemented by bitter bianco, sweet vermouth, and a hint of apple eau de vie. The result is recognisably Negroni in structure, but lighter, fresher, and with a crisp orchard note.

Where: 26-29 Drury Ln, London WC2B 5RL

10. Ekstedt at The Yard

The Lowdown: For one of London’s most refined Negronis, try the Sherry Cask-Aged Negroni at Ekstedt at The Yard. Blending Campari, gin and Lustau Vermut Rojo, it delivers a rich, layered twist on the classic with a smooth finish. Made in a sherry-aged cask for extra depth, it perfectly pairs with Michelin-starred Chef Niklas Ekstedt’s wood-fired dishes.
