About Time You Tried: Rooftop Yoga in LondonBy Angelica Malin
What’s better than a bit of Downward Dog looking out at the city skyline? If you fancy yoga with a difference this month, here’s five new places to try:
What: Take the Downward Dog to new highs at London’s hottest new spot for sky yoga. Sky Garden has launched a limited series of sunrise yoga sessions; set against a backdrop of incredible city views and Sky Garden’s luscious tropical greenery, classes will be taught by the renowned Issy Scobie from Flex London.
When: Starting on Wednesday July 22nd, sunrise yoga will take place every following Wednesday at 6.30am.
Details: Classes cost just £10.00 and all participants can enjoy a delicious pick-me-up smoothie, with compliments of Love Taste, before they leave to start their day. Waking up surrounded by panoramic views and super smoothies – a better start to the day would be hard to find!
What: Coq d’Argent has teamed up with House of Voga to host monthly Voga classes. A fusion between yoga and vogueing (a highly stylised dance form to 80s music), Voga is for everyone – all ages, skill levels and fitness levels – offering the chance to workout in stylish outfits while bringing nightlife cool into the realm of sweat and lycra. Relax and workout to iconic DJ Deanne Oliver-Evans or, better known as the famous Blonde Ambition. See below to listen to Blonde Ambition on Soundcloud.
When: Classes will be held on the last Sunday of every month in Coq d’ Argent’s stunning rooftop garden, and participants are invited to strike a pose surrounded by spectacular views over the City.
Details: Classes, priced at £15 per person, will be taking place between 11am and 12pm on the following Sundays. The next class is Sunday 26th July and the last Sunday of every month from then on.
What: Sunrise Yoga on the rooftop at Rumpus Room in Mondrian London is one of the three best ways to start the week. Using a unique fusion of Ashtanga, Hatha and Vinyasa yoga to heat up the body, the classes are designed to cleanse and purify the mind, body and soul, allowing you to start the week on a note of utter calm.
When: Classes run every Monday from 7.20am-8.30am
Details: Each session is taken by Rebecca Keenaghan, an experienced yoga instructor who draws inspiration from various forms of the ancient healing art – the class is open to all from beginners to advanced. Classes cost £20 for day guests (£17 for hotel guests) – reserve your place by calling the spa on 020 3747 1010.
