Club Mexicana have come a long way since their humble beginnings six years ago. The totally plant-based Mexican-California concept has become a mainstay on the London food scene, operating first as a street food outlet before cropping up at The Spread Eagle in Homerton, and now, finally, laying down roots at their first permanent home in Kingly Court, Soho.

Founder Meriel Armitage and her team have created a menu that is full to the brim with Club Mexicana classics alongside new additions and top-notch desserts. The easy-to-navigate menu is split into sections, and features cult classics like the Tofish Tacos with breaded tofish, slaw, pico de gallo, chipotle mayo and avocado, alongside the BBQ Short ‘Rib’ Taco comprising jackfruit ‘ribs’, hickory-smoked BBQ sauce, pickled cucumber, slaw and garlic mayo.

Burritos are jam-packed with a variety of plant-powered goodness like the Cheezeburger Burrito with ground ‘beef’, queso, pico de gallow, salsa verde, dill pickle and chipotle mayo as well as the ‘Chorizo’ and Potato Burrito featuring ‘chorizo’, potato, salsa rota, pico deg allow, pickled jalapeños and chipotle mayo.

Nachos are piled high with guacamole, red pepper queso and ‘chorizo’ and sides come in the form of skinny fries with garlic mayo; street corn salad with black beans and lime-jalapeño dressing; black beans slowed cook with salsa roja; and tortilla chips with a choice of dips.

The menu features new dishes including an al pastor spit made from BBQ jackfruit and sliced to order (dreamy). And to drink, you can enjoy margaritas on tap as well as smoky Palomas with mezcal and pink grapefruit.
