There’s all kinds of pop-ups opening across the capital this month. We’re talking about a bao-centric boozy bottomless brunch, a cocktail takeover and a guest chef series.

1. For Asian Street Food: Katsu & Buns x The Chapel Bar Terrace

What: Katsu & Buns have set up shop at The Chapel Bar Terrace, located in the heart of Islington. The exciting new concept feature twists on Asian street food favourites, as well as a ‘bao-undless’ buns and bottomless booze brunch offering.

Eat and Drink: Every Saturday from 11.30am-7pm, enjoy an array of ‘bao-untiful’ bao buns. From Korean pork, Peking duck and pumpkin katsu bao to shiitake mushroom teriyaki and chicken katsu and satay buns. Fill your boots for free-flowing Prosecco or a choice of some skilfully crafted Japanese cocktails for an extra £15 a pop.

What: The Shed – which offers nightly live jazz music performances, along with curated wine selections – has just launched a pop-up restaurant within its walls, in collaboration with much-loved neighbourhood restaurant 10 Greek Street, which has been part of the fabric of Soho for over 10 years.

Eat and Drink: The menu is all about small plates. Think burrata served with toast, lemon zest, and olive oil; chorizo, chickpeas, guindillas; and aioli and polenta with slow-roasted red pepper, ricotta, sun-blushed tomatoes and basil.

3. For a Gin Terrace: Didsbury Gin x Mama Shelter London Shoreditch

What: Mama Shelter London Shoreditch have teamed up with Didsbury Gin, to launch an epic, two-month bar popup.

Eat and Drink: Expect creative twists on G&Ts, such as the Sweet & Sour Twist (Strawberry & Sicilian Lemon Gin, London Essence Co. Grapefruit & Rosemary Tonic, served over raspberries, thyme and lemon slices), and Bramble Spritz (British Bramble Gin, London Essence Co. Tonic Water, served over mint and pink peppercorns). Didsbury Gin cocktails include: Basil Smash (Original Gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup, served with a bunch of basil and soda water), and The Strasi Spritz (Strawberry & Sicilian Lemon Gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup, served with strawberries, mint leaves and topped with soda water).

4. For a Culinary Celebration: Selin Kiazam x The Sea The Sea

What: From 4th – 7th June, Selin Kiazim will take over The Sea The Sea – Chef’s Table in Hackney, for a celebratory journey around the four coastlines of Turkey.

Eat and Drink: Selin has created a seafood menu featuring dishes of dry-aged John Dory served alongside Turkish morel pilav with a peppercorn and herring roe yoghurt sauce; a no-frills, all-flavour rendition of seafood meze, served with bone marrow poğaça; and a crab börek of einkorn pastry, with soft leeks and a sour Antep shellfish sauce. For dessert is a selection of dishes including melon sorbet with feta; and chilled cherries with pistachio brown butter ice cream.

5. For a Cocktail Takeover: Sins of Sal x KOL Mezcaleria

What: On Sunday 25th June, KOL Mezcaleria is hosting Sins of Sal, all the way from Amsterdam, for a popup showcasing a limited edition menu of Oaxaca-inspired cocktails.

Eat and Drink: The special menu for the evening will feature six cocktails created by the Sins of Sal team and the KOL Mezcaleria team, led by Bar Manager Matthias Inglemann, using three different expressions of agave available from The Lost Explorer Mezcal (Espadín, Tobalá, Salmiana). The antojitos menu from Chef Patron Santiago Lastra will include Tunworth Buñuelos and Wagyu Empanadas.
