UBA: The Lowdown

The restaurant’s opulent interiors, adorned in shades of red and gold, evoke the mystique and allure of Asian mythology. With its marble bar, red velvet banquette seating, and private dining room, UBA offers a luxurious setting for indulging in the flavors of Asia.
Helmed by globetrotting Chef Paul Greening, whose culinary adventures span Aqua Restaurant Group and Novikov, UBA’s menu celebrates the diversity of South Asian cuisine. From fragrant sharing plates to playful cocktails, each dish is a delightful fusion of tradition and innovation.

UBA: The Menu

Highlights to start include the Korean fried chicken which are beautifully crispy with a mildly spiced sauce, Tuna tatiki each piece being wrapped around some sprouts with a soya sauce topping which complements the dish perfectly. There is also a varied selection starters which includes the super sweet corn with Tokyo butter and wasabi furikake, the chilled spinach salad, and the handmade soba tofu with a goma dressing.

The two stand outs from the larger plates section were the Black Cod which came with a delightful chili lime yuzu sauce. There were other options from the robata grill, such as the baby chicken with barley ginger miso and the yuzu shisho marinated lamb cutlets, are equally enticing. Do make sure to order sides with your mains as they come alone but you cant go wrong with rice or greens.

UBA’s desserts are equally impressive, with offerings like the lychee, jasmine, and raspberry crème brulée with Calpis sorbet, and the vanilla tofu cheesecake hidden beneath a fluffy cloud of Sakura floss. The main attraction is the Japanese chocolate forest floor which looks absolutely incredible and has so many different flavours going on at one time!

The bar menu complements the culinary journey with expertly crafted cocktails that transport drinkers to distant lands. From the Jasmine Pearl with Roku gin to the Smoky Dragon with Tarry Lapsang Souchong tea-infused tequila, each sip is a passport to Asian culture.
