Christmas sandwiches are the beating heart of the festive season. Stick anything vaguely Christmasy between two slices of bread – and people go wild (including us).

And get this: new research has revealed that one third (30%) of families are banishing turkey from their plates on 25th December. Instead, the study revealed the winning meat alternatives that we’ll be cooking up on the big day, with Brits citing beef (51.5%), ham (49%), chicken (46%), lamb and mutton (20%) and duck (13%) as the meats that will appearing on their tables next week.

Further, the new study of 2,000 UK adults, commissioned by British mustard and condiment brand, Colman’s, also revealed that two fifths (43.9%) of Brits are bored of the standard Christmas sandwich available on the high street – proving that limp and lacklustre turkey sarnies are leaving Brits uninspired and calling for more from their lunch.

In light of this new research, Colman’s has partnered with award winning sandwich fanatics, Sub Cult, to serve up a limited run of the ultimate 28” Christmas sub.

The sandwich will feature the meats that the nation really wants to see on the menu this year and will take you on a festive flavour journey with every mouthful – with each meat paired with the accompanying Colman’s condiment, adding full on festive flavour to each bite.

Priced at £24 and available from Thursday 20th – Saturday 22nd December at Sub Cult’s Boxpark site, the sub starts with the perfect American deli-style roll. It’s freshly baked to a secret yielding bagel-brioche dough recipe for perfect consistency and flavour – loaded with the following ingredients:

– Confit duck and sprout leaves with mulled orange and Colman’s cranberry sauce

– Slow cooked lamb shoulder with toasted pistachio, roast carrot, pea and Colman’s mint sauce

– Rare roast beef, truffled parsnips, beef fat and Colman’s horseradish

– Braised gammon, Colman’s English Mustard, pickled red cabbage sauerkraut

Whether you’ve hit the Christmas party hard, need to power through last minute Christmas shopping or are simply looking to kick off the festive season with an over indulgent bang, the sub will comfortably serve up to four people or one very hungry reveller.
