This October, Italian artisan chefs Franco Pepe and Simone Padoan are taking the helm of The Pizzeria at Harrods to offer gourmet diners six special gourmand creations for a limited period. Here’s what you need to know:
From Tuesday 27th until Saturday 31st October, Harrods will introduce Pizza Gourmet – a pop-up to entice London foodies and pizza enthusiasts to try six limited edition varieties that are set to tantalise taste buds, in association with Identità Golose.
Harrods Pizza Gourmet: The Chefs
Taking residency at the Harrods Pizzeria and Canti Prosecco Bar, on the second floor, famed Italian chefs Franco Pepe and Simone Padoan will provide food lovers with pizzas specially crafted, including vegetarian options. Sharing two completely different backgrounds, cooking methods, recipes and ingredients, Franco Pepe and Simone Padoan will celebrate their own unique styles in a five-day pizza feast.
Harrods Pizza Gourmet: The Food
Pepe, whose restaurant Pepe in Grani is located just a few kilometers from Naples, has created a menu combining Neapolitan tradition and innovative cooking for a twist on the classic Italian pizza. Menu highlights includes the Mistaken Margherita, which involves the tomato being cold reduced to maintain and enhance its strong taste and then added to the pizza at the end of the cooking process. Padoan, born in Verona in the northeast of Italy, is known as the inventor of the new Italian pizza. In his restaurant I Tigli di San Bonifacio, he has changed the way classic pizza is perceived, cementing its place on the restaurant map in Italy. Menu highlights include the ‘From Land to Sea’ pizza, with Mazara del Vallo fresh red shrimps and Mediterranean vegetables, the vegetables exalt the buttery flavour of the shrimps but also counter it thanks to their crispier consistency.
