About Time: You Went to Hoppers Adventures of Arrack Dinner SeriesBy Angelica Malin
If you’re looking for something different to do in the capital this month, why not check out this special collaboration dinner at our favourite Sri Lankan spot Hoppers. Here’s the skinny:
Hoppers has been flying the flag for Sri Lankan food ever since launching its first site in Soho back in 2015 – and now it is set to put Ceylon Arrack, Sri Lanka’s national spirit, in the spotlight in a series of hosted dinners in August and September.
The ‘Adventures of Arrack’ dinners will take place on the beautiful outdoor verandah terrace at Hoppers King’s Cross (or inside depending on the weather) on the 18th August, 8th and 29th September and will include a four course dinner paired with Ceylon Arrack cocktails. plus a goodie bag to take home. Each dinner will be hosted by Hoppers Director Karan Gokani and Hoppers Bar Manager Martin Balo. Beginning with an Arrack Punch on arrival the dinner will introduce and explore the history of arrack along with its unique distillation process and cultural relationship with Sri Lanka. Dishes and paired cocktails are set to include:
Arrack is one of the oldest distilled spirits in the world, made from the sap or ‘toddy’ of the coconut tree. Still harvested by hand by ‘toddy tappers’ who climb the trees to collect the sap, Arrack is a 100% natural spirit, with nothing else added during the distillation and refinement process with a complex, versatile flavour profile – it makes for the perfect base for punches and cocktails and the Hoppers ‘Adventures of Arrack’ dinners will be showcasing the huge variety of drinks it can be used in.
The dinners are happening at 6.30pm on August 18th, September 8th & 29th, priced at £70 per person. Book here.
