If you’re unfamiliar with En Root, they’re a team of plant-based pioneers knocking out healthy, hearty Indian-inspired meals. En Root has recently opened a new pop-up restaurant at the Railway Tavern pub in Tulse Hill, marking South London’s first plant-based pub.

Expect En Root’s take on traditional pub favourites, including some ‘pub grub’ specials. A selection of plant-based small bites on the menu includes Tandoori Wings – chunky oyster mushrooms battered in Tandoori Chickpea Batter served with Rajanaisse and a squeeze of lemon; loaded fries topped with a jerk plantain mushroom mix and an onion and tomato salsa, as well as poppa nachos, where India meets Mexico with a poppadom base snack topped with dhal, pickled cabbage, avocado, raita and spice krispies.

Swing by on Sundays for a jerk butternut Wellington or lentil roast served with cauli ‘cheese’, braised red cabbage, masala roasties, sweet carrots, sage stuffing and onion gravy.

Feeding the community, celebrating fresh vegetables, wholesome pulses and flavoursome aromatic Gujarati spices is at the heart of the En Root philosophy. All En Root food and drink is unprocessed and handmade with love to bring nutritional joy to one and all.
