Looking for some delicious food news in London? Another week, another opportunity to taste the best the city has to offer. Forget your local Thai joint, and throw away those takeaway menus: it’s about time you feasted in London. Here’s 5 of the best new menus, openings and foodie happenings in the capital this week:
1. For Vegan Burgers: Club Mexicana at Netil Market

The Lowdown: Kicking off with some vegan food news in London! Club Mexicana, specialists in Mexican vegan food, have just opened a new concept at Netil Market: The Burger Bar. Founded by Meriel Armitage, Club Mexicana has changed the perception of vegan cooking and built a reputation for the city’s best street food that just happens to be vegan.
The Food: Her new Burger Bar at Netil Market, with a menu packed with indulgent Mexican-twists on classic burgers, will sit alongside Dinerama in Shoreditch and London’s first 100% vegan pub, The Spread Eagle in Homerton.

2. For a Celebration: Calçotada at Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch
The Lowdown: Throughout February and March, Brindisa – the home of Spanish food in the UK – will celebrate the traditional winter Catalan festival, Calçotada.
The Food: Held every year in towns and villages across Catalonia, founder Monika Linton will mark the occasion here in the UK with a dedicated weekend feasting menu at Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch and DIY calçot bundles, available to buy online and in Brindisa’s Borough Market and Balham delis.

3. For New York Cocktails: Saxon + Parole at Balthazar
The Drinks: Balthazar’s expert mixologists have worked with friends from across the pond to create a cocktail menu of both signature serves and drinks created especially for the partnership with Rebel Yell Whiskey. The pop-up presents a rare opportunity for cocktail enthusiasts to meet one of the best in the business, Maxime Belfand, Saxon + Parole’s Bar Director, who will be returning to the city where he first learned his craft.

4. For a Charity Brunch: Magic Brunch at Bistrotheque
The Lowdown: Some more lovely food news in London this week! On the 3rd March, Bistrotheque will provide the stunning venue for the first ever Magic Brunch. This new fundraiser is supporting Magic Breakfast, a charity that started in East London and which provides healthy breakfasts to children who arrive at school too hungry or malnourished to learn.
The Food: A delicious brunch menu will be curated for the day with signature dishes from Bistrotheque, Foxlow, Som Saa and Gunpowder London and hosted by Natalia Ribbe. A special brunch cocktail menu will be provided by local specialists Three Sheets, including a ‘Karmosa’ using Karma Cola’s Summer Orangeade drink. Baking expert and TV presenter, Juliet Sear, will be whipping up a show-stopping, breakfast-themed cake for the occasion.
Price: One ticket for Magic Brunch costs £45. A £20 optional donation on top of that will give a hungry child a healthy breakfast and wrap-around support from Magic Breakfast every school day for a year. Tickets are available here.

5. For a NYC-Inspired Burger: Haché
The Lowdown: Ending on some even more delicious food news in London; inspired by the classic New York ‘pastrami on rye’ – a classic sandwich made famous in the Jewish delicatessens of New York City more than 100 years ago – Haché is launching the NYC Deli burger in honour of the city that never sleeps.
The Food: The NYC Deli burger (£11.80) features a premium haché’d steak, mustard mayonnaise, fresh baby gem lettuce and beef tomatoes, Swiss Emmental cheese and pickled gherkins, all topped off with mouthwatering NYC favourite, pastrami within a toasted buttermilk knotted bun.
When: Enjoy the NYC Deli burger from 19th February to the 1st April at all six Haché sites.
