WHAT

Sindance is London’s most gloriously unhinged film festival. With one catch: you can’t just turn up and watch. Every single person in the audience had to make a film to earn their seat. Inspired by the spirit of Sundance, friends Oli, Sophie and Matty challenged 60 complete novices to produce a 3-minute film from scratch. The outputs? Hilarious, thoughtful, and frankly bizarre in equal measure. Audience favourites from the inaugural event included Dog People (love found through dogs), The Deal’s Off (a 13-year-old mogul who’s had enough with what’s on the table), and Those Who Don’t Give A Shit — a horror about one traveller’s desperate attempt to escape the clutches of Glastonbury.

WHY

Because why not? Sindance is a celebration of silliness, of first attempts, of “wouldn’t it be funny if…” Proof that you don’t need experience to make something worth watching. Beyond the films, expect fake red carpet interviews, mock intellectual panel discussions, and — naturally — a theatrical interruption from some rogue zookeepers. It’s one of those nights London does best: completely original, slightly chaotic, and utterly unmissable.

WHERE

Last November, 60 first-time filmmakers descended on a quirky arch in Brixton to screen their creations — and the bar has been set. The second official London Sindance returns on November 7th 2026, and registration is now open for anyone who wants to be part of it. The only way in? Make a film. Sign up HERE before 30th March to secure your place. Follow the chaos on Instagram @sindanceldn.
