Looking for ways to celebrate Halloween but not a fan of the full-blown meat feast? From vegan snacking to spooky plant-based parties, here are 5 ways to lift your spirits this Halloween, vegan-style:

What: Keen to get involved in the vegan party scene this Hallow’s Eve? Halloween – and a celebration of world vegan day – at The Truman Brewery is set to be one hell of a plant-based party. Turn up in your most spectacular plant-inspired Halloween costume to celebrate all things vegan.
The Run-Down: Whether you choose to channel a plant-thirsty vampire, cat-loving witch or just a spooky vegan, expect the party to come alive with a range of vegan treats and DJs playing everything from reggae and grime to house and party classics.

What: Why not celebrate Halloween the ethical way? Social enterprise vegan restaurant Cafe Van Gogh are marking Halloween this month with a special menu. Named after the artist – because it’s around the corner from where he lodged in the 1870s – the cafe works with charities to offer work to people with learning disabilities, mental health problems and ex-offenders.
The Run-Down: Lift your spirits with a three course menu including beetroot and roasted garlic soup, seitan sausage-stuffed pumpkin (an alternative to their famous sticky seitan ribs) and a spooky toffee apple pudding to finish. The cafe at the end of Brixton Road will be brought alive with special soundtracks and a fancy dress competition for the occasion – so get your best vegan costume ready and dress to impress.

What: Vegan Halloween Cupcake Selection Box
The Run-Down: The humming-bird bakery hand-make a range of American style sweet treats with flair and finesse. Think you’ve had the best spooky vegan cupcake? Think again. Try their selection box of 6 gruesome vegan cupcakes this Halloween. Choose from flavours galore – including Red Velvet, chocolate and vanilla – for some epic plant-based goodness.
What: Vegan Spiced Pumpkin Loaves
The Run-Down: Run by two food-obsessed sisters Annabel (the cutter) and Emily (the squidge), Soho Cutter & Squidge bakery uses all natural ingredients and is heaven for those with a sweet tooth. Need to satisfy your cakey (but vegan) needs? Try these pumpkin loaves packed with cinnamon and spices, drizzled with caramel and topped with Halloween-y buttercream. Though not spine-tinglingly scary, you can’t argue with the ghost-shaped sprinkles.

What: Vegan Spiced Pumpkin Doughnut
The Run-Down: Crosstown is the bakery in London that everyone raves about for its handmade sourdough doughnuts with an array of fillings. Made from the bakery’s award-winning vegan sourdough, the vegan spiced pumpkin doughnuts are the latest addition to Crosstown’s vegan doughnut range. Bursting with spicy custard and topped with pumpkin glaze and pumpkin seed crumble, they are the perfect treat for Halloween celebrations.
When: Crosstown are launching the doughnuts on the 31st October.

What: ‘The Annabelle Doughnut’
The Run-Down: Sink your teeth into Doughnut Time’s vegan Halloween special – terrifying vegan dough balls made from activated charcoal dough. A work of edible art, they’re actually as scary as they are delicious – pitch black, they ooze blood-red jam and feature edible glass.
When: Available from Monday 28th October at all 14 locations in London here

What: Venture into the world famous Camden Market at the end of October for vegan delights, art installations, bands and creative workshops. Think you’ve seen the creepiest vegan treat there is in London? Think again. Sample Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner’s ‘Zombie’ burger at the market- a beef-style burger with bloody beetroot, vegan bacon, zombie eyes and special black garlic mayo (made with activated charcoal).
